(The James Brand)

The James Brand, known for its focus on modern, minimal everyday carry essentials, has announced the launch of its first-ever wallet, The Lowe. This new product marks the beginning of an entirely new category for the company, expanding its existing line of gear and accessories. The Lowe maintains the same design ethos and attention to detail that define The James Brand’s other offerings, presenting an ultra-minimal and refined solution to the essential need for carrying cards and cash.

“Wallets have been on our radar since the beginning,” said Ryan Coulter, Founder of The James Brand, in a statement announcing the product. “But we weren’t interested in making just another metal card holder—we wanted to build something better. If we were going to step into this space, we had to do it our way: modern, minimal, and made the right way.”

(The James Brand)

The design team was inspired by the simplicity of metal wallets but sought to overcome their common limitations. The result is a CNC-machined aluminum case that can securely hold up to six cards internally. The proprietary “Pinch-Tech” technology ensures the same solid tension regardless of whether the user carries one card or six, eliminating the need for adjustments or complex moving parts.

(The James Brand)

The wallet’s thoughtful micro-details are designed to elevate the user experience. A subtle internal ramp is hidden behind the rear wall, facilitating an intuitive, natural thumb motion to slide cards out. A durable, flush-mounted 70A durometer silicone band wraps around the case, providing flexible storage for a most-used card, cash, or receipts. The band’s dimensional form locks into a precise position, centering the brand’s signature mark.

(The James Brand)

Constructed from aerospace-grade 6063-T5 aluminum, the Lowe is naturally RFID-blocking and remarkably slim—thinner than a standard pack of gum—and designed specifically for comfortable front-pocket carry. Weighing 2.1 ounces, the wallet is a minimalist masterwork with no visible hardware or compromise in form. The Lowe has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $119 and is available at thejamesbrand.com, Amazon, and select retail partners.

Jacob & Co. And Costa Design Unveil ‘The Godfather’-Inspired Sculpture Table https://www.maxim.com/style/jacob-co-and-costa-design-unveil-godfather-sculpture-table-a-cinematic-stunner-of-horological-art/ Wed, 24 Sep 2025 11:00:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=272353
(Jacob & Co.)

In a groundbreaking collaboration that redefines the intersection of design and horology, luxury watchmaker Jacob & Co. and Costa Design Studio have unveiled a head-turning new collector’s item: The Godfather Sculpture Table. This limited-edition creation, a functional work of art, draws its inspiration from the revered Opera Godfather timepiece, transforming its intricate details into a monumental piece of furniture.

Conceptualized by visionary designer Pedro Costa, the table serves as an extraordinary expression of collaborative artistry. It is a true union of cinematic history, high-end watchmaking, and sculptural design, built with a meticulous attention to detail that mirrors the craftsmanship of its horological muse. The table is composed of over 350 individual parts, each hand-assembled into seven distinct substructures. These components are crafted from a high-end blend of stainless steel, glass, leather, and aluminum, resulting in a robust yet elegant creation weighing 170 kilograms and measuring 135 x 80 x 76 cm.

(Jacob & Co.)

At the heart of the sculpture lies a Swiss and German mechanical movement, a tribute to the table’s watchmaking origins. This complex mechanism boasts a 7-day power reserve, providing both a functional and artistic core. Echoing the watch that inspired it, the table also features intricate music boxes that play the iconic “The Godfather” theme by Nino Rota, adding a multi-sensory dimension to the piece. The design further incorporates scaled-up elements from the timepiece, including detailed violin- and piano-shaped parts and a tri-axial tourbillon, showcasing the seamless fusion of engineering and artistic design.

(Jacob & Co.)

The Godfather Sculpture Table is limited to just 20 pieces worldwide, solidifying its status as a collector’s item. This bold collaboration allows Jacob & Co.’s unparalleled storytelling to converge with Costa Design’s sculptural mastery, creating a uniquely functional piece of art that’s sure to be a conversation piece.

(Jacob & Co.)

The table is available to buy at a very exclusive price point of $300,000. Just when Godfather-loving watch aficionados thought they were out, Jacob & Co. are apparently pulling them back in.

H. Moser & Cie. Serves Up Perpetual Calendar Watch With Smoked Salmon Dial https://www.maxim.com/style/h-moser-cie-serves-up-perpetual-calendar-watch-with-smoked-salmon-dial/ Tue, 02 Sep 2025 12:00:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=270432
(H. Moser)

H. Moser & Cie. has never been a brand to shy away from bold design. Back in 2023, the stylish indie watchmaker introduced a touch of irreverence to its most daring collection, the Streamliner Centre Seconds, with a “smoked salmon” dial that quickly became a fan favorite. Now, that same brunch-ready color is making an anticipated return, this time in the refined Endeavour Perpetual Calendar.

This new model brings together three of H. Moser & Cie.’s icons: the rich smoked salmon dial, the elegant Endeavour case, and the intuitive Perpetual Calendar. The dial itself features a vertical griffé finish that creates a vibrant, almost mineral-like texture. This finish, combined with the brand’s signature fumé effect, makes the color shimmer with subtle reflections ranging from soft copper to warm brown. This tasty smoked salmon hue is a nod to timeless vintage elegance in a modern timepiece.

(H. Moser)

At the heart of the watch is the HMC 800 hand-wound movement, celebrated for its smart design and ease of use. A small central hand indicates the months, while a large date window at 3 o’clock features the “Flash Calendar” function for an instant date change at midnight. The power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock displays the movement’s seven days of autonomy. Setting the time and date is a simple process, and can be done at any time of day without the risk of damaging the movement. Furthering the brand’s minimalist philosophy, the logo is applied to the dial in a transparent lacquer, serving as a subtle, secret signature.

(H. Moser)

The watch is housed in a 42mm 18-carat white gold case paired with a dark brown alligator leather strap. With a height of 13.1mm, it has a measured, yet authoritative, wrist presence. The curved sapphire crystal on both the front and back of the case provides a clear view of the dial and the beautifully finished HMC 800 movement, which operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour and has 32 jewels.

The movement also features a double barrel for the seven-day power reserve, hacking seconds, and an interchangeable Moser escapement with an original double hairspring. The pallet fork and escapement wheel are made from gold, and the movement and all of its components are hand-finished and decorated. The Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Smoked Salmon is a collector’s-worthy watch that’s available now for $68,000.

This Minimalist Turntable Plays Vinyl Records By Using Lights Instead Of Magnets https://www.maxim.com/gear/this-minimalist-turntable-plays-vinyl-records-by-using-lights-instead-of-magnets/ Mon, 25 Aug 2025 10:15:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=269390
(Miniot)

Miniot, “self-described as a “small Dutch family with big deals,” hasn’t reinvented the wheel, but it has reinvented the turntable as a wheel. The latest iteration, the Wheel 3, is among the most minimalist vinyl-spinning apparatuses ever created, with a “spaceship” profile is crafted from just two parts: a solid composite block forms the rear, while a thick billet of aluminum, turned and milled to perfection, makes up the unibody front. This aluminum is then circularly polished to a mesmerizing luster that, when paired with translucent records, creates a radiant, glowing effect .

The linear tonearm glides silently along a narrow, elegantly embedded track within the aluminum rim. This design choice not only ensures perfect symmetry but also helps protect the stylus from dust. A discreet, dimmable display remains hidden until you need it, preserving the clean lines. With the ability to operate upright on a stand, flat, or even mounted on a wall, the Wheel 3’s mechanism works at any angle, even upside down, offering a level of versatility and visual flexibility previously unheard of in high-fidelity audio. But the true genius of the Wheel 3 lies in its radical approach to sound reproduction. Unlike traditional turntables, which rely on moving magnet or moving coil cartridges to convert a stylus’s physical vibrations into an electrical signal, the Wheel 3 employs an optical stylus.

Traditional magnetic cartridges face a fundamental hurdle: they measure velocity or, more precisely, the change in a magnetic field. Low-frequency sounds, with their slow, deliberate shifts, are inherently difficult for these systems to capture accurately. Compounding this, the RIAA equalization curve—a necessary evil for fitting more music on a record—intentionally cuts bass during mastering, requiring a significant boost during playback that often results in a muddy, indistinct low end.

(Miniot)

The Wheel 3’s optical stylus sidesteps this entire problem. Instead of measuring velocity, it measures position by shining a light onto a tiny plate on the needle and analyzing the shadow it casts. This allows the system to “see” every detail of the groove, from the highest highs down to 0 Hz. This position-based measurement provides a level of resolution in the low end that magnetic cartridges simply cannot match, revealing a newfound clarity and depth in your vinyl collection. The optical design makes the entire stylus assembly significantly lighter, allowing it to track high-frequency details.

This optical innovation also has profound implications for the Wheel 3’s linear tonearm. By directly tapping into the raw signal from the stylus, the system can precisely position the carriage in real-time, functioning almost like an analog joystick to maintain perfect groove contact and ideal pressure at all times.

The Miniot Wheel 3 is available to preorder now for $3,446 before deliveries begin in 10 weeks.

Tiffany & Co. Updates Luxury Race Car & Airplane Clocks https://www.maxim.com/style/tiffany-co-updates-luxury-race-car-airplane-clocks/ Mon, 18 Aug 2025 15:25:55 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=268937 In the same way that wearing a watch is a symbol of intentionality and attention to detail, the same can be said for a luxe clock that does more than tell the time. The revered Tiffany & Co. Time Objects Collection goes well beyond mere timekeeping, and now boasts two fresh, covetable updates.

(Tiffany & Co.)

Previously available in the utterly iconic shade of Tiffany Blue, the Tiffany & Co. Time For Speed clock mimics the build of a vintage race car and now comes in crisp, glossy black: The 10-pound clock is the ultimate desk or office luxury, and a further tribute to trophies crafted by the jeweler for the world’s most prestigious auto races.

(Tiffany & Co.)

Although its engagement and wedding rings are undoubtedly the stuff of legend, the Time Objects Series and other desktop accessories “add a touch of Tiffany to working from home,” the company says. In truly intricate fashion, the race car clock keeps time with a series of rotating dual columns, and winds manually by pulling the car backwards: It’s but the latest Tiffany’s work of art designed with luxurious flair in mind.

(Tiffany & Co.)

New diamond detailing joins the race car clock, and it’s not the only item making a splash among Tiffany’s lineup of desk accessories. Also getting a fanciful update in the Tiffany & Co. Time Objects Collection is its Airways Clock, featuring more than 500 inset diamonds totaling 4.5 carats.

(Tiffany & Co.)

The handsome, sleek airplane-modeled clock uses Tiffany Blue paint and keeps track of the time via two circular rotating rings positioned at the plane’s propeller. The effect is impossibly luxurious and ultra-stylish; The perfect gift for the Tiffany’s devotee.

(Tiffany & Co.)

Retailing for $45,000, the streamlined clock “pays tribute to the House’s heritage of expert Swiss watchmaking and is inspired by 1930s aviation and the spirit of flight,” Tiffany & Co. said. Together with its companion race car clock (available in its new black build for about $75,000), the Tiffany & Co. Time Objects Collection bolsters the idea of time with elegant flair in mind, proving that every second really does count.

Oakley Reveals Vision For Future With Plantaris Ti Sunglasses https://www.maxim.com/gear/oakley-gets-futuristic-with-frog-leg-inspired-plantaris-ti-sunglasses/ Thu, 31 Jul 2025 08:20:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=267315
(Oakley)

Oakley is envisioning the shades of the future with the brand’s latest bold frames, the Plantaris Ti. An eye-catching evolution of the Oakley Plantaris silhouette, the “future-forward” titanium sunglasses aim to channel “Oakley’s vision for 2075” in a new, ultra-limited release.

The sporty shadesmaker is pausing from heralding rapper Travis Scott as the company’s “Chief Visionary” and hyping Meta-branded AI glasses with the help of Patrick Mahomes to drop a flashy, sci-fi-inspired design that channels last year’s Moonveil collection and the metal and leather MUZM Mars shades.

(Oakley)

The Plantaris Ti features adjustable temples and a removable nose cone that allows for a quick transformation for the wearer. Its temple design and clear silicone tips are “inspired by frog legs,” according to the brand, and feature a vein-like internal structure.

(Oakley)

A lightweight premium titanium frame encases the frame’s wire skeleton, upgrading the original silhouette for next-gen comfort and style. The eyewear is further bolstered by Oakley’s Prizm Lens tech, which optimizes visuals by enhancing color and contrast.

The Oakley Plantaris Ti is available beginning July 31, exclusively on Oakley.com.

Michael Jordan’s Lavish Former Chicago-Area Mansion Is Now Available On Airbnb https://www.maxim.com/travel/michael-jordans-former-chicago-mansion-is-now-available-on-airbnb/ Fri, 18 Jul 2025 09:00:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=265719 NBA fans can be like Mike in the most over-the-top way possible by renting Michael Jordan’s sprawling former Chicago-area estate on Airbnb Luxe.

(Champions Point)

The 56,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom, 17 1/2 bathroom mansion in Highland Park previously sold for about $9.5 million (that’s about the expected asking price for six pairs of Jordan’s championship game-worn sneakers.)

(Champions Point)

Renters can expect to indulge in amenities including a regulation-size basketball court, a professional golf putting green, movie theater, wine cellar, cigar lounge, gaming tables, swimming pool and nearby lake access, not to mention a hot tub, fitness center, tennis court and a fully stocked fishing pond.

(Champions Point)

“His Airness” built the 7.39-acre estate “with privacy, security, and luxury in mind,” says the listing, which points out the property is both fenced and gated, surrounded by lush pines outside of the Bulls icon’s beloved Chicago.

(Champions Point)

What’s being called “short-term luxury stays” are now the name of the game at Champions Point, as the listing requires a $25,000 security deposit, the signing of a liability waiver and a seven-night minimum stay (all the better to take in the property’s plentiful luxury amenities and design features, of course).

(Champions Point)

Reports indicate that renting the lavish, enviable space for a month could cost as much as $150,000, but that also leaves plenty of time to bask in the Champions Point zero-edge Infinity pool or fish in ponds stocked to the gills with bass and bluegill.

(Champions Point)

The AirBNB Luxe listing for Champions Point also indicates a salon and multiple bars dotting the property, the sort of value-added features that make the property more than worthy of its lofty price tag. If being like Mike on your bucket list, consider living like a legend (if only briefly) at Champions Point.

Bell & Ross Channels Military Stealth Aircraft With BR-05 Skeleton Phantom Ceramic Watch https://www.maxim.com/style/bell-ross-gets-stealthy-with-limited-edition-br-05-skeleton-phantom-ceramic-watch/ Fri, 11 Jul 2025 13:01:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=265638
(Bell & Ross)

Bell & Ross has introduced its latest limited-edition timepiece, the BR-05 Skeleton Phantom Ceramic, a watch designed to blend stealthy aesthetics with high-end horology. Limited to just 500 pieces, the blacked-out timepiece aims to offer a distinctive look inspired by aviation, contemporary art, and modernist design.

The BR-05 Skeleton Phantom Ceramic features a unique, fully skeletonized movement visible through a transparent dial, encased in a ceramic case and bracelet with refined finishes. The entire watch is presented in a “full black” finish, which the company describes as “dressed in light,” emphasizing the interplay of shadows and reflections.

(Bell & Ross)

This new addition expands the BR-05 line, an urban-inspired collection launched by Bell & Ross in 2019. The BR-05 series quickly became a cornerstone for the brand, known for its integrated design where the case and bracelet form a single unit, a style reminiscent of 1970s watchmaking. The luxury French watchmaker previously dropped an adventure-ready dive watch, the BR-03 Diver Lum Outline, in June.

Bruno Belamich, Creative Director at Bell & Ross, highlighted the watch’s integrated design in a statement announcing the brand’s latest launch. “The case and bracelet form a single unit,” he said. “This type of design refers to a style of watches that emerged in the 1970s. Translating it into the Bell & Ross aesthetic yields a result that is both intuitive, modern, and graphically impactful.”

(Bell & Ross)

The “Phantom” finish, an all-black aesthetic, has been a signature for Bell & Ross since the BR-01 Phantom in 2007. This design draws inspiration from military stealth aircraft and modern art movements, including artists like Pierre Soulages, Richard Serra, Mark Rothko, and Jackson Pollock. Bell & Ross, known for transforming cockpit instruments into wristwatches, integrates its passion for design and architecture into this piece.

The watch’s technical dial is entirely black, with its central plate crafted from black-tinted sapphire crystal. This transparency reveals the rhodium-plated skeleton movement, adding to the watch’s allure. The dial is framed by a matte black flange with applied indexes and skeletonized hour and minute hands, all filled with black Super-LumiNova that glows green in the dark, while a rhodium-plated seconds hand provides a subtle contrast. Despite the dark aesthetic, Bell & Ross says that the watch’s legibility remains as sharp as ever.

(Bell & Ross)

Skeletonization is central to the BR-05 Skeleton Phantom Ceramic. The BR-CAL.322-1 caliber, developed specifically for Bell & Ross, features refined and reshaped components, allowing the inner workings of the mechanism to be showcased. This automatic mechanical movement boasts a 54-hour power reserve and beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). Its performance is visible through both the dial and the sapphire case back, revealing a custom-decorated black oscillating weight and finely openworked components.

The choice of black ceramic for the case is both aesthetic and technical, offering scratch and corrosion resistance as the material is harder than steel. Bell & Ross applied sophisticated polished and brushed finishes to the 41mm case, elevating its luxurious feel. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters and is available with an all-ceramic bracelet or a black rubber strap with a folding clasp.

The BR-05 Skeleton Phantom Ceramic is priced at $13,100 and can be purchased through authorized Bell & Ross retailers and the watchmaker’s official website.

These Montauk Boutique Hotels Are Coastal-Chic Retreats https://www.maxim.com/travel/these-montauk-boutique-hotels-are-stylish-coastal-chic-getaways/ Fri, 11 Jul 2025 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=265537
(Marram Montauk)

Montauk, that enduring Hamptons hotspot on the eastern tip of Long Island, has long lured New Yorkers eager for a beachy respite from big city summers. Montauk’s scenic sands and bluffs first made it an artsy haven for Edward Albee, Peter Beard and Andy Warhol, who bought a compound here in 1972 which hosted the likes of Mick Jagger and Jackie Onassis, kickstarting the hamlet’s boho-chic era.

But while the wealthy old guard still has a presence—Ralph Lauren, Robert De Niro and Jimmy Buffet have all owned Montauk estates—the summer incarnation is more akin to Manhattan’s young and restless West Village scene than the low-key artistic enclave of yore. Finance bros, nepo babies and well-heeled summer renters far outnumber locals when it comes to the crowds flocking to DJ-driven nightlife and pricey restaurants. And if you haven’t already secured that coveted invite to your friend’s beach house, you may want to book a stay at a luxury Montauk hotel in a prime location.

The 158-room Gurney’s Montauk Seawater Spa & Resort—an East End icon that’s perhaps the most prominent hotel in the area—recently received an expansive summer glow-up, while the sceney Surf Lodge unveiled a collaboration with Parisian fashion label Casablanca for redesigned cabanas and branded surfboards. Here, three more boutique Montauk hotels that are getting seriously stylish revamps this summer.

Marram Montauk

(Marram Montauk)

Marram Montauk is a striking 96-room oceanfront retreat distinguished by lush thickets of native beach grass and named after the spiky tufts found in neighboring Shadmoor State Park. The laid-back luxury hotel’s exterior is clad in hand-trimmed cedar that has weathered nicely since its 2020 opening, and the surf cottage-style rooms feature naturally-cooling cement floors, sustainably-sourced rugs, and private patios—but no TVs.

(Marram Montauk)

The food here is a priority, spanning from early partnerships with famed Manhattan Italian eatery Il Buco to daily service at Marram’s Mostrador cafe. With a rotating seasonal menu focused on peak produce, local seafood, and fresh pastries, this counter-serve gem is a worthy lunch or dinner option even if you’re not staying here.

(Marram Montauk)

Marram offers surfing lessons from the family-run Engstrom Surf school, beach yoga classes, guided nature walks, creative workshops using found driftwood and seashells, and chartered catamaran trips. The hotel is celebrating its fifth anniversary with the launch of five new cabanas overlooking the oceanfront pool, a private gallery curated by musician and artist Sean Spellman, an educational marine program with Swarovski Optik, and complimentary use of a 1,050-horsepower Lucid Air electric car for guests who book a Balcony or Garden Suite. Room rates range from $499 to $2,499 per night.

Ruschmeyers

(Ruschmeyers)

Bridgeton, the hospitality firm behind Marram Montauk and Journey East Hampton, has relaunched this former 1950s-era fish camp near Fort Pond. The 19-cabin Ruschmeyers fully embraces an adult summer camp aesthetic with s’mores-ready fire pits, hammocks, cornhole boards and picnic tables dotting the lawn.

(Ruschmeyers)

The cabins were refreshed by Bridgeton Studio with the help of Brian Smith (Scribner’s Catskill Lodge) and Whitney Clark (Marram Montauk) and feature Bauhaus-inspired tubular steel lounge chairs, Isamu Noguchi lanterns, Donald Judd-style desks, sail flags over beds dressed in Parachute linens, and retro Sangean radios. The Grill at Ruschmeyers, led by chef Jordan Heissenberger, serves up shareable plates of charred lamb ribs, raw bar towers and lobster-topped pastas in a woodsy dining room or, better yet, on the lawn that serves as the hotel’s focal point.

(Ruschmeyers)

The relaxed vibe turns up at the lounge after hours, courtesy of a collaboration with downtown Manhattan nightlife operatives GOSPËL. But since Ruschmeyers’ pool isn’t set to open until next summer, you’ll have to take a dip at the semi-secluded Navy Beach nearby to unlock the full summer camp experience. Room rates range from $299 to $1,299 per night.

OffShore Montauk

(OffShore Montauk)

The 43-room OffShore Montauk arose from the site of the former Sands Motel in late June. This revamped oceanfront getaway is just a short walk from downtown Montauk and features freshly-renovated rooms and luxury ocean view suites adorned with prints from local artists and photographers along with HigherDOSE and Therabody spa products.

(OffShore Montauk)

There’s also a “resort-style” pool, a spa with an infrared sauna and cold plunge, and a high-end gym, along with similarly upscale room rates of up to $1,200 per night. “We designed OffShore Montauk as a tribute to the history of Montauk—an escape where guests can curate their own experience whether it’s unwinding by the beach, enjoying a restful reset, or sharing memorable moments with friends and family,” said Marley Dominguez, owner of Enduring Hospitality, which oversees the property.

(OffShore Montauk)

A rooftop restaurant and bar is planned for next summer, and OffShore has already been the site of a private party for canned cocktail brand Saint Spritz, launched by JoJo Fletcher of The Bachelor, and hosted VIPs including Bijou Phillips, Ella Travolta, Isabelle Ferrer and Keleigh Teller. Room rates range from $750 to $1,200 per night.
