Luxury automaker Aston Martin and famed French Champagne house Bollinger have forged a prestigious global partnership, the two brands announced. The upscale union brings together two icons of the luxury market known for their enduring heritage, impeccable craftsmanship, and pursuit of excellence–as well as joining James Bond’s preferred automobile and the superspy’s favorite Champagne under one experiential umbrella.

Champagne Bollinger was named the Official Champagne Partner of Aston Martin, which in turn becomes Bollinger’s Official Automotive Partner. “This partnership is a natural alignment of two iconic brands,” said Charles-Armand de Belenet, Managing Director of Champagne Bollinger. “We are proud to see Champagne Bollinger become part of Aston Martin’s most exceptional moments around the world.”

Wine Of The Week: Veuve Clicquot x Jacquemus https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/wine-of-the-week-veuve-clicquot-x-jacquemus/ Thu, 04 Sep 2025 09:30:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=270589
The embroidered linen bottles nod to Jacquemus’ South-of-France background. (Veuve Clicquot)

Every year, Veuve Clicquot taps a big name in design or culture to weigh in on the newest release of La Grande Dame, a liquid ode to Madame Clicquot and her love of Pinot Noir-based sparkling wines. Two years ago, sculptor Paola Paronetto added her artistic touch to the bottles. In 2020, Yayoi Kusama gave Veuve Clicquot the polka dot treatment.

This year, the storied Champagne brand is rolling out a limited-edition collaboration with Simon Porte Jacquemus, the founder and creative director of fashion brand Jacquemus. He took Veuve Clicquot’s signature color—a vibrant yellow—and threaded it through the draping linen that wraps the bottle and its box. Classic Jacquemus, it’s bold and whimsical, well worth showcasing on a shelf.

(Veuve Clicquot)

“La Grande Dame 2018 is the outcome of simple materials, meaningful gestures, and strong women’s stories, yet it is ultimately a celebration of – and for – optimistic and memorable moments,” adds Jacquemus. “From the bright and joyful spirit to the excellence in savoir-faire, I admire and share the same values as Veuve Clicquot.” The release will also include a silver Champagne bucket and glass cooler inspired by Jacquemus’ Mediterranean roots.  Each silverware item was handcrafted by artisans, with over 40 hours of work put into each piece. $225

Wine of the Week: Champagne Lallier R.021 Brut https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/wine-of-the-week-champagne-lallier-r-021-brut/ Thu, 21 Aug 2025 08:30:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=269278
(Champagne Lallier)

It’s been an exciting year for Champagne Lallier. The historic house offered the official sparkling wine at the 2025 Oscars–the one that would have been raised to celebrate wins like Anora, The Brutalist, and Emilia Perez.

And recently, Champagne Lallier announced the newest bottles in its Reflexion series: a stunningly pure Brut and a Brut Rose, the first-ever pink wine in the line. The Reflexion series celebrates the hand of the cellar master Dominique Demarville, formerly the reigning chef de cave at a little brand called Veuve Clicquot. In the Reflexion series, Demarville flexes his technique, working with what the year gave him to make limited-release cuvees. If the year doesn’t meet his standards, the wine won’t be released.

The Reflexion line is an ode to each harvest, their way of capturing a snapshot of each year. 2021 was a tough one. Severe spring frosts and constant rain made growing conditions difficult. The grapes that came out of the year were remarkably fresh. To balance out that lightness, Demarville added a touch of 2020 wine that Champagne Lallier holds back for blending purposes.

The resulting wine is jubilant in color, with a pale yellow hue. The nose sings with notes of key lime and ripe mandarin, balanced out by notes of blooming honeysuckle and honey. It’s wonderfully salty on the open, but balanced out by rich, roundness and a finish that stretches on forever.  I sat on my sunny back pato with friends, savoring each sip over bites of scallops and yuzu-kissed oysters.

What’s perfect with Champagne? Caviar. To celebrate the new launch, Champagne Lallier tapped culinary creative Laila Gohar, a culinary artist behind Gohar World. She’s collaborated with the brand in the past, including an elegant set of caviar spoons and seafood picks, hand carved from mother of pearl. $65

Armand de Brignac Marks A Decade Of Pinot Noir Champagnes With Collectible Blanc de Noirs Bottle https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/armand-de-brignac-marks-a-decade-of-pinor-noir-champagnes-with-collectible-blanc-de-noirs-bottle/ Mon, 04 Aug 2025 09:01:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=267629

Ten years after its ballyhooed entry into the world of luxury Champagne with its first Blanc de Noirs cuvée, Armand de Brignac has unveiled its fifth iteration: the Blanc de Noirs Assemblage No. 5. This limited-edition bottle, crafted entirely from Pinot Noir grapes, represents a culmination of a decade-long vision to bolster the brand’s Champagne legacy.

The new cuvée is composed of wines from the 2014, 2015, and 2016 vintages, aged for seven years on the lees. Grapes were predominantly sourced from revered Premier and Grand Cru villages such as Chigny-les-Roses, Verzenay, and Verzy, with a small proportion from the Aube region’s Ville-sur-Arce contributing to its richness and distinct red fruit aromas. Only 8,165 bottles of Assemblage No. 5 exist globally, each individually numbered and marked with an August 21, 2024 disgorgement date, emphasizing its rarity for collectors.

Shawn Carter, better known as the hip-hop legend and entrepreneur Jay-Z, is the founder of Armand de Brignac and co-owner of the bubbly brand along with Moët Hennessy, the wine and spirits division of LVMH. In a statement heralding the bottle launch, Carter declared, “Assemblage No. 5 is the result of years of patience, precision, and purpose. It’s bold, it’s rare, and it reflects the legacy we’ve been building bottle by bottle.”

Jasmin Allen, CEO of Armand de Brignac, described the release as “not simply another cuvée, it’s a celebration of legacy and a leap forward.” She added, “It honors a decade of craftsmanship while pushing the boundaries of what modern Champagne can be.”

To celebrate this milestone, Armand de Brignac collaborated with a three-Michelin-starred chef based in Champagne, France. Each 750ml bottle comes in Armand de Brignac’s signature lacquered wood gift box. The Champagne has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 12.5% and is recommended to be served at 47–48°F after cellaring at 53–54°F to fully reveal its intricate profile.

Tasting notes for Assemblage No. 5 describe an aromatic profile of “dried fruits, roasted almonds, and toasted nuts,” complemented by black fruits like plum, fig, and black currant. Hints of “exotic mango, papaya, and kiwi” add depth, while notes of salinity and iodine provide clarity. With time, “layers of pastry cream, honey, orange blossom, and toasted coffee” are said to emerge, as well as “candied black fruits, pink grapefruit zest, bergamot, and a warmth from Italian Amaretti biscuit.”

Following its Japanese debut, Assemblage No. 5 is slated for release in select international markets, with U.S. availability anticipated in early 2026.

Wine Of The Week: Armand de Brignac Gold Brut Champagne https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/wine-of-the-week-armand-de-brignac-gold-brut-champagne/ Thu, 24 Jul 2025 08:30:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=266784
Jay-Z ‘s Ace of Spades is still one of the most iconic brands in wine history. Credit: Armand de Brignac

When special occasions occur—say, the superbowl or the opening of a new Beyonce tour—a certain bottle comes out. It’s gilded and gold, filled with fine Champagne and embossed in metal with the Ace of Spades.

When Jay-Z—legendary producer, among many other hyphenates—first entered the wine world with Armand de Brignac, he was one of the first celebrities to put his weight behind a Champagne brand, and one of the first people of color to lead a wine brand to excellence.

Now, Armand de Brignac is less of a Champagne and more of a cultural phenomenon. While every celebrity seems to have a wine brand or tequila project, none have ascended to ubiquity quite like Ace of Spades. The gold-hued bottle is instantly recognizable in clubs and bars. It’s often seen in the hands of celebrities when they celebrate big moments—Taylor Swift at the 2025 Grammys. Beyonce at the Cowboy Carter tour. Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz on Broadway.

This doesn’t mean the juice isn’t serious. Grapes are sourced from hyper-specific plots around the region, both the brand’s own vineyards and growers they trust to produce the best of grapes. They’re releasing vintage wines, and special assemblages every few years—the fifth installment of which, an excellent, elegant blend nearly aged eight years on the lees, is on the horizon.

But you can’t go wrong with the original Ace of Spades. It’s fresh and bright, with subtle creaminess and a crisp finesse. Save it for a special occasion or pop it with weeknight sushi. $350

Wine Of The Week: J Vineyards LOVE Bubbles https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/wine-of-the-week-j-vineyards-love-bubbles/ Thu, 19 Jun 2025 08:26:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=263515 As a sommelier, one of the most frequent questions I get asked is, What wine should I bring to date night? You want a wine that impresses, but isn’t overly opulent or flashy. You want a wine that flexes your taste and knowledge without making a big show of it. You want something smooth and suave, crowd pleasing but cool.

Bubbles are always my first bet. Good sparkling wines add levity and a sense of celebration to every occasion, be it a picnic or a late-night Netflix binge.

J Vineyards’ LOVE Brut Cuvee lands all of the above. Grapes were collected from cool-climate vineyards across California and brought to life in Healdsburg. The bubbles are expressive and exciting, loaded with notes of white peach, lemon zest, and lilies—everythingyou would expect from an all-bubble winery in California.

And, it’s all for a good cause. The wine is made in collaboration with grantLOVE, a Los Angeles-based platform that brings new voices and talent into the art world. Each label of LOVE wine will highlight work from one of the art scene’s rising stars. This round, that’s New York-based interdisciplinary artist Genevieve Gaignard, whose work has been shown at the Broad and LACMA.

Alexandra Grant, founder of grantLOVE, added, “The LOVE Wine project has been a dream of mine for many years – to find a woman-led vineyard to collaborate with artists who are interested in supporting the curiosity and creativity of others. Let’s raise a glass to that.” $50

Wine Of The Week: Moët & Chandon Pharrell Williams Brut Imperial Blue Champagne https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/wine-of-the-week-moet-chandon-pharrell-williams-brut-imperial-blue-champagne/ Thu, 05 Jun 2025 09:00:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=261762
(Moet & Chandon)

Pharrell Williams—producer, musician, and fashion icon—is now making a splash in the Champagne game. The multi-talented Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director is lending his famously discerning eye to the iconic Champagne house of Moet & Chandon, giving a signature design touch to the bubbly brand’s limited-edition Brut Imperial. A big blue bow wraps the bottle, while each bottle’s red seal has been transformed into a pearled monogram of Pharrell’s initials. It’s beautiful to drink—crowd-friendly and ever-pleasing, but elegant on the palate. It’s golden in color, with a warm fruitiness and hints of white peach and caramel, all wrapped together with a big bow of bright bubbles.

Pharell’s collab comes in three colors. (Credit: Anthony Seklaoui.)

Here’s why you should feel especially good about this limited-edition bottling: The new release has a green lean. The packaging is made entirely from recycled paper and the bottle itself is fully recyclable (something not all wine bottles can claim). This follows Moet & Chandon’s overall sustainability mission. Over the past 20 years, they’ve planted more than 60 miles of ecological corridors and are on track to reduce their carbon footprint by 50% before the year 2030. We’ll drink to that. $70.

Wine Of The Week: Champagne Bollinger PN VZ19 https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/wine-of-the-week-champagne-bollinger-pn-vz19/ Thu, 15 May 2025 08:18:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=259630
Champagne Bollinger’s new experimental bottling is an ode to Pinot Noir. Courtesy Champagne Bollinger

Champagne is typically made from three grapes: Chardonnay (a white grape), Pinot Noir (a red grape), and Pinot Meunier (a red grape, usually a blending tool). Amidst a sea of Chardonnay-dominant Champagne, the iconic house of Champagne Bollinger has chosen the bold path of betting on Pinot Noir.

As Champagne Bollinger continues into the future, it’s furthering its emphasis on the red grape with its PN series, an experimental 100% Pinot Noir cuvée. It’s a master class on Pinot Noir—a love letter, an ode to the heartbreak grape and single-varietal Champagne. The 5th edition of PN VZ19, which was just launched, shows off how jovial and elegant Pinot Noir can be. It’s a focused expression of the Verzenay (in the Marne area of Champagne).

It’s technically a non-vintage wine, meaning its pulled from the best of the past few years.  Half the fruit is from the 2019 vintage, which was balanced, pure and compelling. The rest is pulled from Bollinger’s deep cellars, including wines dating back 15 years to amplify complexity and elegance. It’s tense and structured, but softened with a thread of salinity and a squeeze of citrus notes. It’s complex and thoughtful enough to sip it on its own, but it shines brightest beside grilled seafood. $186

Dom Pérignon Enlists Zoë Kravitz, Iggy Pop, Tilda Swinton, Takashi Murakami & More For Champagne Campaign https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/dom-perignon-enlists-zoe-kravitz-iggy-pop-tilda-swinton-takashi-murakami-more-for-artist-driven-champagne-campaign/ Tue, 13 May 2025 12:02:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=259245
(Dom Pérignon)

Dom Pérignon just unveiled a new chapter in the bubbly brand’s storied journey, inviting seven globally recognized artists and creators to shape its future through a multidisciplinary program celebrating the essence of creation. The splashy campaign marks a significant evolution for the fabled Champagne house founded on the vision of Benedictine monk Dom Pierre Pérignon, who in 1668 set out to make “the best wine in the world.” Nearly four centuries later, that fizzy ambition continues to inspire a convergence of art, culture, and luxury winemaking.

(Dom Pérignon)

Dom Pérignon kicked off the starry campaign with actor/director Zoë Kravitz, punk icon Iggy Pop, actress Tilda Swinton, chef Clare Smyth, Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, musician Anderson Paak and choreographer Alexander Ekman. Each creator will infuse their unique perspective into a project that Dom Pérignon describes as a “spiral” of creation—transcending time and space. For Kravitz, the bubbly endorsement is apparently a family affair: Her famous father Lenny Kravitz previously worked with the Champagne house in 2020 by helping design three special edition bottles.

(Dom Pérignon)

“This is more than a collaboration,” said Vincent Chaperon, Dom Pérignon’s Chef de Cave, in a release announcing the project. “It’s a dialogue between our wine and the creative spirit of our time.” The artsy initiative includes a series of portraits and short films directed by Camille Summers-Valli and photographed by Collier Schorr, known for her emotionally resonant imagery. These Dom-funded works aim to uncover the creative processes of each campaign figure through candid moments and intimate interviews conducted by media entrepreneur and Dazed Media CEO Jefferson Hack.

The portraits, rendered in stark black-and-white and vibrant color, explore how each artist engages with Dom Pérignon as both muse and medium. From Kravitz’s reflections on artistic intention to Iggy Pop’s view that “creation is a release,” the campaign emphasizes emotional resonance as central to the Maison’s philosophy. “Creation is never over, is never done,” adds Anderson Paak in one of the films, encapsulating the high-minded ethos of the program.

(Dom Pérignon)

A public artistic showcase opens in London on May 16, offering visitors a sensory journey through Dom Pérignon’s past, present, and future. Designed as a spiral pathway, the exhibition will trace the brand’s cultural connections—from Marilyn Monroe’s famed request for a 1953 vintage to Andy Warhol’s plan to toast the millennium with 2,000 bottles.

(Dom Pérignon)

The present exhibit will spotlight the new artistic collaborations, while the future section introduces “Pré-Assemblages 2024,” a conceptual expression of the Maison’s evolving creative and oenological direction. Later in 2025, Dom Pérignon will debut a collection of limited-edition design pieces created in collaboration with one of the featured artists. In 2026, the journey continues with a live performance and the release of four landmark vintages: Plénitude 2 of the 2008 vintage, the final 2017 vintage under former cellar master Richard Geoffroy, a 2018 debut under Chaperon’s leadership, and the 2010 Rosé—a culmination of a decade-long exploration in Pinot Noir.

Pharrell Williams Launches Exclusive Champagnes With Moët & Chandon https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/pharrell-williams-moet-chandon-launch-special-edition-champagne/ Tue, 04 Mar 2025 10:58:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=252958
(Moët & Chandon)

Pharrell Williams is partnering with storied French champagne house Moët & Chandon to make birthdays a little more “Happy.” The superstar musician, rapper, producer and Louis Vuitton creative director is lending his name to three increasingly exclusive Moët bottles that were conceived to help people celebrate their big day with bubbly.

(Moët & Chandon)

The first is a limited-edition version of Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut dressed in gold, blue and red as well as a Moët & Chandon Nectar Impérial Rosé in white, both being 750-ml bottles. Pharrell’s signature in pearl-like white dotted lettering appears on both the bottles and boxes, while the top-shelf Moët offerings’ red royal seal gets a pearled monogram featuring his “PW” initials.

(Moët & Chandon)

The “Bow Creation,” which references the historic bows that were tied around bottles of Moët as early as 1892, sizes up the bottle up to a 1.5-liter magnum for a proper party and fills it with either Grand Vintage Collection 2003 (Black), Brut Impérial (Midnight Blue) or Nectar Impérial Rosé (White) champagne. An oversized fabric bow adorned with pearled beads, crafted by Parisian embroiderers Atelier Baqué Molinié. can be detached and worn as a brooch. The Grand Vintage Collection 2003 magnum, styled in black, was selected by Cellar Master Benoît Gouez as an homage to the memories of Pharrell’s 30th birthday celebration.

(Moët & Chandon)

The Jewel Masterpiece, 3-liter Jeroboam bottle of Brut Imperial, is described by the brand as a “celebratory emblem of audacious French chic.” Limited to just 30 examples, each hand-crafted bottle is covered in mirrored chrome, upon which hand-lettering composed of 89 embossed relief pearls were painted by artist Astrid de Chaillé to create a three-dimensional effect. An oversized bejeweled bow, which required 300 hours of handwork using 7,310 pearled beads by the Parisian embroidery studio Atelier Baqué Molinié, adorns the bottleneck. The Jewel Masterpiece is presented in an ornate wooden case featuring a dark blue finish and more decorations by de Chaillé, including the “PHARRELL” signature and pearlescent patina.

(Moët & Chandon)

The 30 numbered Jewel Masterpieces are available through the Moët Hennessy Private Sales service, in the Epernay boutique, and at select Moët & Chandon Bars at a price of $31,500 at the current Euro exchange rate. The other Pharrell-approved limited-edition bottles will be available in pop-up gift shops in London, Madrid, Milan, Dubai, Mexico City, Korea and Japan.
