Luxury watchmaker H. Moser & Cie. officially unveiled the Streamliner Tourbillon Pierre Gasly at the Singapore Grand Prix, a timepiece designed in collaboration with the celebrated Formula 1 driver. The watch, a blend of high-end horology and contemporary sporting style, is described by the company as capturing the driver’s vision and aesthetic.

The project was “deeply personal” for Gasly, a French driver who competes in F1 for Alipine. He aided in the design from choosing textures and signing off on the watch’s refined appearance to positioning the tourbillon as its central mechanism.  “More than lending his name, he shaped every detail of this watch, meticulously selecting textures, defining its pared-back elegance, and ensuring the tourbillon would serve as its heart,” according to H. Moser. “The result is a timepiece that feels like an extension of Pierre himself: bold, refined, and unmistakably unique.”

(H. Moser)

Gasly went with a rich chocolate fumé dial, reflecting his preference for understated tones. This is contrasted with the strong, contemporary presence of the 5N red gold Streamliner case. On the bracelet version, a discreet ruby is set at the ten o’clock position on the bracelet, a subtle reference to Gasly’s racing number.

(H. Moser)

The Streamliner Tourbillon Pierre Gasly is available in two limited editions: A sport-chic edition on a chocolate rubber strap, limited to 100 pieces, is priced at $98,500. A collector’s edition on a red gold bracelet with the ruby detail, limited to 10 pieces, is priced at $148,500. The 10 future owners of the full gold version will receive a helmet replica and can participate in a yet-to-be-determined activity with Gasly in 2026.

‘F1’ Races Back Into Imax Theaters After Becoming Biggest Movie Of Brad Pitt’s Career https://www.maxim.com/entertainment/f1-races-back-into-imax-theaters-after-becoming-biggest-movie-of-brad-pitts-career/ Thu, 07 Aug 2025 15:28:59 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=268036
(Warner Bros.)

F1: The Movie is roaring back into Imax theaters after becoming the top-grossing film of Brad Pitt’s career. Apple’s Formula 1 racing epic returns to Imax on Friday, Aug. 8, with plans to further expand showtimes on Friday, Aug. 15.

F1 recently passed $552 million at the global box office, making it the highest-grossing original feature of the year and Apple’s biggest film ever. Variety points out that the racing flick lapped Pitt’s previous biggest movie, his 2013 zombie flick World War Z, which raked in $540 million at the box office. Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, F1 has made $85 million and counting from Imax theaters alone, which is the highest of any film this year.

“Audiences around the world have embraced ‘F1 The Movie’ as an adrenaline-pumping, big screen experience, and its re-release in Imax is a testament to the global popularity of the film,” said Matt Dentler, head of features at Apple Original Films, in a statement. “Joe, Jerry, Brad, Lewis and the visionary team behind ‘F1 The Movie’ have delivered a summer blockbuster that blends heart with action, and we can’t wait to give moviegoers another chance to see it in Imax.”

Pitt stars in F1 as aging race car driver Sonny Hayes, who returns to the track after an injury derailed his career in the ’90s. Now, he’s a driver-for-hire who helps a struggling Formula 1 team return to prominence. He stars alongside Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies and more. Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski helmed the film and produced with Jerry Bruckheimer, seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, as well as Pitt and others.

Added Imax CEO Rich Gelfond, “Every element of ‘F1 The Movie’—the visuals, the sound, the gripping storytelling anchored by larger-than-life performances—makes excellent use of the IMAX Experience, and it’s no wonder it’s our highest grossing Hollywood film of the year. We know ‘F1 The Movie’ still has plenty of gas in the tank and audiences will come back again to experience it as intended in Imax.”

Get revved up for F1’s big-screen return with the official trailer below.

Why McLaren Supercars Get Better With Every Formula 1 Win https://www.maxim.com/rides/why-mclarens-supercars-get-better-with-every-formula-1-win/ Fri, 11 Jul 2025 10:16:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=265223
Courtesy McLaren

McLaren is having its best Formula 1 season in nearly 20 years, and looks like a good bet to win both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships this year, an impressive feat to say the least. McLaren’s star drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have been burning up the F1 circuits, racking up 10 podiums each in the first 12 races of the season, with five wins for Piastri and four for Norris, including the Monaco Grand Prix. Beyond the mere entertainment factor, and even the boost to the brand’s stature and reputation however, there is a very real benefit to winning that translates to better road-going supercars from McLaren Automotive—and that’s more apparent than ever with the new McLaren Artura Spider.

Courtesy McLaren

The $280,000 super convertible is a revolutionary open-topped version of the glorious coupé that made headlines when it debuted in 2022 as the marque’s first-ever High-Performance Hybrid (HPH) Supercar. Perhaps more than any other manufacturer, McLaren leverages its F1 mastery in myriad ways to benefit its road car division, and never compromises when it comes to making drop-dead gorgeous rolling sculptures of speed.

Courtesy McLaren

McLaren has been winning Formula 1 races since the 1960s, and application of decades of accumulated expertise literally blew the automotive world away when they debuted their first-ever road car, the aptly-named McLaren F1, in 1992. This also paved the way for the birth of McLaren Automotive nearly 20 years later, which was an immediate and smashing success.

McLaren F1

Widely considered to be the world’s first hypercar, and still renowned for its groundbreaking engineering over 30 years later, F1’s now fetch around $20 million at auction. And since then every McLaren road car—current regular production began with the MP4-12C in 2011—has had a direct line to F1 coursing through its valves. And new ownership and leadership is ensuring the brand continues to thrive in all realms.

Courtesy McLaren

“McLaren holds a unique position in that we are a racing company that also makes road cars, and not the other way around,” Roger Ormisher, the marque’s Vice President of Brand and Communications, tells us. “The brand’s storied racing heritage features an enormous amount of triumph, including winning our 9th Constructor’s Championship in the 2024 season, and a hugely successful 2025 season to-date. But we’re not only winning on the track—the McLaren Artura has won a variety of accolades over the past year, and owners get the benefit of having F1-derived technology in their road-going cars.”

Courtesy McLaren

Key points of this exchange include a carbon fibre monocoque, carbon brakes, and caliper-mounted brake cooling ducts. “Combined with a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 680 hp (690 bhp) and the thrill of open-air motoring that the Artura Spider provides,” Ormisher remarks, “it’s never been easier to emulate your favorite F1 driver.” And do it in impeccable style.

Courtesy McLaren

Then there is the HOTAS (Hands On Throttle-And-Stick) system. “Although the name directly references aircraft control systems, Artura Spider features a HOTAS-inspired driver-zone binnacle with fingertip selectors for handling and powertrain modes, which also thematically reflects the cockpit ergonomics of F1 cars,” the brand notes.

Courtesy McLaren

McLaren states that the Artura Spider represents a dramatic increase in power, performance, “emotionality” and driver engagement over the original Artura, something that we were able to put to the test at the model’s global launch in Monaco. Setting out from McLaren’s temporary HQ at the ultra-posh Maybourne Riviera hotel, we felt that the car could not have been more in its element. Open-topped motoring in a supercar in Monaco is something that every true enthusiast should aspire to. Make it a McLaren and you’re in for a experience you’ll never forget.

Courtesy McLaren

The Artura Spider’s hybrid powertrain is ideally suited for the type of driving we did on the glorious slice of the South of France. Lower speed, nearly silent cruising in EV mode  was perfect for the famously labyrinth streets of the principality itself. And when we got up into the hills above it was time for a fiercer approach, accomplished with a flick of an F1-style switch. Then it was time to experience the sheer thrill of hitting 0-60 in 3 seconds; we would have needed a racetrack to rocket to the top speed of 205 mph, but McLaren doesn’t make cars that go slower than that, as we’ve had pleasure to confirm in the past.

Courtesy McLaren

As with all McLarens, the marque’s MSO branch, for McLaren Special Operations, can make any client’s car into a one-of-a-kind, 007-worthy creation. From its beginnings adding custom finishes, MSO now has the ability to do anything from a bespoke paint job all the way up to one-off limited editions. MSO was founded to maintain the iconic F1 as the 1990s superstar evolved into a museum-worthy showpiece; McLaren being McLaren, it also wanted to ensure the cars would remain competitive and stay on the road.

Courtesy McLaren

The launch of the Artura Spider came on the heels of one of the most successful quarters in the history of McLaren Automotive. At the same time, the company completed a capital restructuring process, and is now owned by one shareholder with one class of share, Abu Dhabi-based investment firm CYVN Holdings, which also acquired a a non-controlling stake in McLaren’s racing division.

Courtesy McLaren

That makes for both a leaner, simpler governance structure and a funding platform for investing in the future, all under a new entity named McLaren Group Holdings (MGH). The shift is already being felt, with longtime industry exec Nick Collins tapped to lead both MGH and McLaren Automotive earlier this year, replacing Michael Leiters.

Courtesy McLaren

There have been other appointments as well, including a new Chief Creative Officer, Alister Whelan, and Torsten Müller-Ötvös, former CEO of Rolls-Royce, who has joined McLaren’s non-executive board. Nor are they resting on their laurels; this summer the marque announced it will return to endurance racing at Le Mans in 2027, and debuted to the public the most recent successor to the F1, dubbed the W1, at the UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Courtesy McLaren

Only 399 examples of the $2.1 million hypercar, itself a beneficiary of Formula 1 technology and track time, are being made, and all have been spoken for. With a whopping 1,258 horsepower, twin-turbo V8 hybrid engine—more horses than the Koenigsegg Jesko and Lamborghini Reveulto—it’s the most powerful road-legal McLaren ever.

This Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Limited Edition Celebrates Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ Movie https://www.maxim.com/entertainment/this-mercedes-amg-gt-63-limited-edition-celebrates-f1-starring-brad-pitt/ Tue, 06 May 2025 09:08:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=258663
(Mercedes-Benz)

Anticipation surrounding F1—premiering this June—is hitting the rev limiter, with none other than seven-time champ and producer Lewis Hamilton promising that the Brad Pitt- and Damian Idris-led blockbuster is “as authentic a racing movie has ever been.” Mercedes, with which Hamilton won six of his seven F1 titles, is capitalizing on the fervor with an ultra-exclusive edition of its super-grand tourer.

The 2026 AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition,” named for the movie’s fictional APXGP team, was fittingly unveiled at the 2025 Miami GP. This limited-edition vehicle, with only 52 units slated for production globally, directly mirrors the design of the APXGP liveries and elements donned by the team’s F1 cars in the film (which are actually modified Formula 2 cars). Key elements include striking APXGP Edition paint finish with hand-applied Race Gold accents, 21-inch matte Race Gold forged wheels, Race Gold interior detailing, contrast stitching on the black Nappa leather AMG Performance seats, and carbon fiber trim elements with gold threads.

Aside from the APXGP references, the cars are also equipped with the Carbon Fiber package’s front splitter, side sill trims, rear diffuser, as well as the AMG Aerodynamics package, which adds a fixed carbon fiber rear wing on the trunk lid. The AMG Extended Night Package adds black chrome to the radiator grille, AMG crest, model badging and Mercedes star at the rear of the vehicle. An AMG fuel filler cap in silver chrome with AMG lettering, a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, AMG TRACK PACE on-board telemetry, and a suspension-lifting system for climbing speed bumps are just some of the other opulent amenities offered by the uninhibited spec.

(Mercedes-Benz)

The German marque’s other tie-ins with F1 are numerous, as the real Mercedes-AMG team also provided expertise and a fleet of high-performance vehicles that can be seen on-screen, including AMG SL, G-Class, and GT models roadgoing models and even the official Mercedes-AMG Safety and Medical Cars. Not to mention, their former star racing driver has been part of the project since the jump.

“Watching Brad drive around at speeds over 180 miles an hour was really impressive to see because it’s not something you can just learn overnight,” Hamilton said of Pitt’s performance ahead of the F1 season opener in Australia earlier this year. “The dedication and the focus that Brad put into this process has been amazing to witness.”

Helmed by Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski, F1 races into U.S. theaters on June 27, 2025. Check out the official trailer below:

Watch Lewis Hamilton Take The ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ Ferrari For A Joyride https://www.maxim.com/entertainment/watch-lewis-hamilton-take-the-ferris-buellers-day-off-ferrari-on-a-joyride/ Mon, 17 Mar 2025 12:02:13 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=253815 “You fellas have nothing to worry about, I’m a professional.” The reassurance given to Ferris Bueller, Cameron Frye and Sloan Peterson as they drop a damn-near priceless Ferrari 250 GT California SWB Spider at a Chicago parking garage carries a little more weight in a retconned version of the scene starring Lewis Hamilton as the reassuring parking garage attendant.

Ahead of his first drive for Scuderia Ferrari at Formula 1’s 2025 season-opening Australian Grand Prix, the seven-time champ shared a clip in which he, along with actor Edward Norton, were digitally inserted into the memorable scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Hamilton even flexed his acting chops as he faithfully recreated the dialogue and slightly suspicious mannerisms originally delivered by actor Richard Edson.

Citing the 1986 coming-of-age comedy as one of his favorite childhood flicks, Hamilton revealed that the scene “definitely took a lot of cutting edge tech, production and planning to get right,” in a caption shared on social media. “Had to get the exact car too … it’s been a dream car since seeing the movie. Shout out to the legendary Edward Norton for coming along for the ride. This is the energy and excitement I’m bringing to the track this year. ANDIAMO!!”

Hamilton edged himself into the points with a tenth-place finish in his inaugural appearance for the Prancing Horse at a chaotic Australian GP. Intermittent downpours caused multiple into-the-wall spinoffs, safety cars and sudden tire strategy adjustments as teams attempted to weigh pit-stop time losses against constantly changing conditions. Hamilton’s single-point award bolstered his teammate Charles Leclerc’s four-point finish in eighth place.

More drama came at the front of the pack in the final laps as McLaren’s Lando Norris held incumbent four-time champion Max Verstappen and his Red Bull at bay just enough to finish with a .8-second gap. “It was amazing,” Norris said, per ESPN. “It was a tough race, especially with Max [Verstappen] behind me. I was pushing especially the last two laps, which was a little bit stressful but an amazing way to start the year.”

As for Hamilton’s thoughts, “It was very tricky and went a lot worse than I thought it would go,” he told Sky Sports F1. “The car was really, really hard to drive today. For me, I’m just grateful I kept it out of the wall because that’s where it wanted to go most of the time.” In a GP that saw six DNFs, F1 fans know that’s still a win.

‘F1’ Trailer: Brad Pitt Burns Rubber On The Big Screen In High-Octane Teaser Video https://www.maxim.com/entertainment/f1-trailer-brad-pitt-burns-rubber-on-the-big-screen-in-racy-teaser-video/ Thu, 13 Mar 2025 19:46:47 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=253709
Brad Pitt in “F1” (Warner Bros.)

Hollywood’s finally bringing the full-throttle, white-knuckle intensity of Formula 1 to the silver screen. And judging by the freshly dropped trailer for F1, starring Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem and Damson Idris, we’re in for a wild ride.

Director Joseph Kosinski, fresh off helming Top Gun: Maverick, is aiming for a level of visceral realism that may have you gripping your armrests like the steering wheel in a race car’s cockpit. And with real-life champion driver Lewis Hamilton co-producing, the authenticity factor is cranked to eleven. Pitt plays a retired F1 legend named Sonny Hayes who has been coaxed back into the fray to mentor hotshot rookie Joshua Pearce (Idris). The trailer hits all the right notes: the futuristic race cars, pit-stop chaos, sun-drenched European circuits and simmering tension between the old dog and the young gun. It’s a classic sports narrative, sure, but injected with the fiery intensity of F1.

But what seems to really set F1 apart is its commitment to capturing the real deal. This isn’t just some CGI-laden fantasy. They actually filmed during live Grand Prix weekends, embedding a fictional race car among the real contenders. Seven-time world champion Hamilton is practically a co-pilot, ensuring every gear shift, every cornering maneuver, every bead of sweat is true to the sport. Veteran action movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer recounted a particularly telling moment at Silverstone, where Hamilton corrected Pitt’s gear selection based on the sound alone. “The level of specifics that he gave us, like in Silverstone in Turn 3 you’re in second gear, and he could hear with his ear we [Brad Pitt] were in third gear,” Bruckheimer told Newsweek. “It’s that kind of thing that he’s bringing to the movie.”

Hamilton’s obsession with accuracy goes beyond just the technical details. He wants to show the sheer physical and mental toll that F1 takes on its drivers. “When he finishes a race, especially like Singapore, where it’s very hot, he can barely get out of the car, they lose 10 pounds,” Bruckheimer explained. “They’re just completely exhausted [and] we’re going to show what it takes to be an F1 driver.”

(F1 Poster/Warner Bros.)

This level of dedication is no surprise. F1’s popularity has exploded in recent years, particularly in the U.S., thanks in no small part to Netflix’s hit docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive. Now, F1 is poised to capitalize on that momentum, bringing the sport to an even wider audience. It’s a chance to demystify the complex world of F1 racing, to show the raw human drama behind the high-tech spectacle.  The trailer promises a cinematic experience that’s nearly as thrilling as the real thing. But can F1 capture the lightning-in-a-bottle intensity of a Grand Prix weekend? We’ll find out when the film hits theaters on June 27 in North America. Until then, buckle up and watch the trailer below.

Chivas Regal Taps Ferrari F1 Driver Charles Leclerc As Global Brand Ambassador https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/chivas-regal-taps-ferrari-f1-driver-charles-leclerc-as-global-brand-ambassador/ Mon, 03 Mar 2025 14:52:44 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=252895
(Chivas Regal + Charles Leclerc)

Chivas Regal is putting eight-time Grand Prix-winning Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc behind the wheel as the scotch brand’s Global Brand Ambassador for a new multiyear partnership.

“As a talented and self-taught pianist and composer, Leclerc has been sharing his love of music with fans over the past few years that has seen him release multiple tracks,” Chivas said in a statement spotlighting Leclerc’s musical hobby. “The time, precision and passion he puts into mastering the notes on a piano is reflective of the craftsmanship required to blend the notes of an iconic whisky.”

To celebrate this blending of success, Leclerc and Chivas Regal are hosting an exclusive, one-night-only pop-up piano bar which brings together the worlds of music and whisky. Dubbed Leclerc’s, the bar will open on March 11 in Melbourne, ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season opener in the Australian city that week. The immersive event offers VIP guests and a limited number of F1 fans the chance to enjoy bespoke Chivas Regal x Charles Leclerc whisky cocktails and will feature a special guest appearance from Leclerc himself in his first in a series of Chivas events.

(Chivas Regal + Charles LeClerc)

Leclerc said in a statement: “Success is about blending all the right notes—on and off the track. My craft demands time, precision, and dedication, but what truly drives me is the journey, my passions, and the moments shared along the way. Chivas Regal embodies this same ethos, encouraging people to find their own rhythm and celebrate every win, big or small. I’m excited to redefine success together and share this experience with fans through our partnership.”

Nick Blacknell, Global Marketing Director, for Chivas Regal, added: “It’s no secret Charles has had incredible success in his life, but it is his tenacious spirit, commitment to excellence and off-track passions that inspired this partnership. The 88 notes of the piano draw perfect parallels with the 85 flavor notes of our iconic Chivas 18 Year Old expression, showing how both music and whisky blend passion with precision. We’re excited to bring fans on the journey to celebrate our wins together—the ethos that lies at the heart of Chivas Regal.”

The ambassadorship comes days after the conclusion of F1 pre-season testing, which marked the last time drivers will put in laps until the first practice session opens up 2025’s inaugural race weekend. Leclerc’s third-place overall finish in 2024 proved to be his second-best in F1 following his second-place overall finish in 2022.

Moët & Chandon Returns As Official Champagne Of Formula 1 https://www.maxim.com/sports/moet-chandon-returns-as-official-champagne-of-formula-1/ Thu, 06 Feb 2025 17:43:53 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=250978
(Moet Chandon: A Senna Cup)

Pop those corks—Moët & Chandon has returned as Formula 1’s official Champagne, kicking off a decade-long partnership between the world’s reigning motorsport and luxury powerhouse LVMH that’s rooted in racing history. Since 1950, Moët & Chandon bubbly fueled the boozy celebrations of legendary champions like Sir Jackie Stewart, Ayrton Senna, Nikki Lauda, Alain Prost, Mika Häkkinen, and Michael Schumacher. Each celebratory cork-popping and Champagne spray has symbolized F1 glory for decades.

The podium celebrations will once again become soaked with Moët & Chandon as the top three
drivers toast their success on the podium. The Maison will also take center stage as the Title Partner at F1’s Belgian Grand Prix 2025 in July, a race that holds special significance for the Champagne house. The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps is deeply entrenched in the legacy of F1 and Moët & Chandon. Nestled in the heart of the Ardennes, Spa is the closest Grand Prix to the terroir in the Champagne wine region, making it an appropriate homecoming for the Maison. Known for its twisting corners, unpredictability, and jaw-dropping scenery, Spa is one of the most revered circuits by F1 drivers and fans. Moët & Chandon detailed further details in a release announcing the motor sports collaboration below.

(Moët & Chandon)

Spa-Francorchamps was also part of the very first FIA Formula 1 World Championship calendar in 1950, a race won by the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio. Just two weeks later, Fangio triumphed at the French Grand Prix, held on the Reims-Gueux circuit in Champagne—a historic race, attended by two passionate local racing enthusiasts, Paul Chandon-Moët and his cousin, Count Frédéric Chandon de Briailles.

Moët & Chandon’s history with motorsport goes back even further, to 1936, when Tazio Nuvolari, after winning The Vanderbilt Cup, sipped Champagne from a Jeroboam of Moët & Chandon. However, it was in 1967 that the now-iconic celebratory spray was born. After winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Dan Gurney received a jeroboam of Moët & Chandon, and in a moment of pure elation shook it, and spontaneously sprayed the crowd, unknowingly creating a new tradition across sport. From the legendary Golden Magnum trophy in 1977 to the jeroboams signed by racing greats between 1991 and 1997, Moët & Chandon’s legacy within Formula 1 is one of innovation, camaraderie, and shared triumph.

Stefano Domenicali, President & CEO of Formula 1, said in the same statement: “The tradition of toasting on the podium is one of the most iconic moments in our sport and we are thrilled to welcome once again Moët & Chandon as the Official Champagne of Formula 1.”

Sibylle Scherer, CEO and President of Moët & Chandon, added: “We are honored and excited to return as the Official Champagne of Formula 1, celebrating a shared history of collective triumph and dedication since the 1950s. We honor the extraordinary teamwork, the unlimited precision, and the pursuit of excellence that drive both motorsport and our craft. This partnership is a tribute to the unity and shared achievements of inspiring drivers, their devoted teams, and the global community that rallies behind them. As Moët & Chandon takes its place on the podium once again, we proudly continue to craft moments of celebration that belong to everyone committed in this incredible journey.”
