Hublot has officially expanded its Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-Day Power Reserve collection with the release of four new ceramic color options: red, black, yellow, and sky blue. The debut marks a significant extension of the line, which had previously only been available in white ceramic or carbon. The move, according to the luxury watchmaker, demonstrates its determination to reach all Spirit of Big Bang enthusiasts.

Born in 2014, the Spirit of Big Bang collection is known for its tonneau profile, structured design, and airy aesthetic. The new 42 mm models embody this spirit, carrying over signature design codes such as a skeleton movement, a bezel with six screws, a crown with a rubber grip, and a multi-layer case construction. Each of the four ceramic color editions is highly limited, with only 20 pieces available per model.

Collectors can choose from the new quartet of bright colors, each housing the HUB6020 manual movement. Specifically developed for the tonneau-shaped case, the movement features a tourbillon visible at 6 o’clock, a complication that enhances precision by compensating for the earth’s gravity. The caliber also boasts an off-center hour and minute dial at 3 o’clock and a power reserve indicator at 8 o’clock. The power reserve is extended to five days, one of the longest autonomies for this type of complication. The 100% Manufacture caliber is notable for its extreme skeletonization, a technical feat that hollowing out components to the very limits of their strength.

To celebrate the launch of these four colored ceramic models — which are joined by a fifth model in black sapphire, also limited to 20 pieces and priced at $161,000 — Hublot is unveiling a first-ever customization experience. New owners of one of the four limited-series ceramic models will receive their timepiece accompanied by two straps, one rubber and one velcro.

They will also receive a third bracelet and an additional bezel, chosen from an exclusive range of some 20 possible variants in different colors and materials, including carbon, ceramic, and optional stone-setting. Combined with the One Click interchangeable bracelet system, these options offer a high degree of personalization.

Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot, noted the special place the Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon holds with collectors. “The tonneau format is rarely a first acquisition. It requires a certain amount of watchmaking experience, which we are taking a step further today with these colored ceramic variants,” Tornare said.

Each of the four ceramic Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-Day Power Reserve models—Red Magic, Black Magic, Yellow Magic, and Sky Blue Ceramic—is priced at $104,000 each.

Patrick Mahomes Sports Titanium Big Bang Watch To Celebrate Hublot Partnership https://www.maxim.com/style/patrick-mahomes-sports-titanium-big-bang-watch-to-celebrate-hublot-partnership/ Fri, 05 Sep 2025 10:39:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=270705
(Hublot)

Three-time Super Bowl champ Patrick Mahomes has inked another deal, this time with luxury watchmaker Hublot. The superstar quarterback joins the elite likes of track’s Usain Bolt and tennis’s Novak Djokovic as a Hublot brand ambassador ahead of his Kansas City Chiefs’ September 5 season kickoff against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Partnering with Hublot is an honor—it’s a brand that understands the value of timeliness, precision, and also performance. I’m proud to be a part of a legacy that was built on mastering time with style,” Mahomes said in a statement.

In an accompanying video announcing the partnership, Mahomes elaborated on the moment he knew he wanted to rock Hublot watches in an official capacity. “The moment was meeting the people behind the brand and seeing how creative they are and how they want to continue to push forward to be even better. And I think that’s something that really stuck with me.”

Eagle-eyed watch fans might identify Mahomes’ choice in wristwatch as the Big Bang Unico Titanium Ceramic. With a ceramic dial and a case crafted from grade 5 titanium—the superlatively strong form of the alloy—the watch strikes a balance between lightness and durability, though the prospect of wearing a 44mm metal watch that retails for nearly $30,000 on the gridiron seems dubious.

(Hublot)

The watch was likely selected, perhaps with some encouragement from execs, because the Big Bang line is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Launched in 2005, Hublot’s longstanding flagship collection followed the 1980s-era Classic Original, which was the first true luxury watch to combine a precious metal (gold) with a modern material (rubber). In the Big Bang’s debut year, an example crafted from ceramic and titanium—the same materials used in the watch seen here—won that year’s coveted Design Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

Mahomes’ list of brand sponsors and ambassadorships is longer than his deepest pass—Oakley, Bose, Airbnb, Adidas, Draftkings Walmart and State Farm are just a few. But among them all, Hublot is definitely the most luxurious.

The Pre-Owned Luxury Watch Market Just Clocked Its Best Quarter In 3 Years https://www.maxim.com/news/the-pre-owned-luxury-watch-market-just-clocked-its-best-quarter-in-3-years/ Wed, 16 Jul 2025 10:00:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=265895
(Bob’s Watches)

The global pre-owned luxury watch market has notched its best quarterly performance in three years as price declines for leading brands like Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, and Omega slowed to their lowest rate since early 2022. That stabilization could signal a turning point for a sector that has experienced 13 consecutive quarters of price corrections from its post-pandemic peak.

According to a recent report by Morgan Stanley and WatchCharts, average prices across the pre-owned market fell by a mere 0.3 percent from April to the end of June, a notable improvement compared to the 0.4 percent declines seen in the first quarter. This marks the slowest rate of decline in over three years, indicating a renewed willingness among buyers to invest in certain pre-owned models, particularly those from highly coveted luxury watch brands.

Cartier emerged as a standout performer during the second quarter of 2025, with prices appreciating by 6.14 percent, driven by strong demand for its Santos collection, especially vintage and steel models. Over a five-year period, Cartier has seen an impressive 39.06 percent appreciation, reflecting sustained market confidence and a growing collector focus on classic dress watches.

Cartier Tank Francaise
(Cartier Tank Francaise)

Patek Philippe also showed strength, with prices rising 1.1 percent during the period, fueled by a rebound in Nautilus model prices and continued robust performance of its Aquanaut timepieces. While Rolex prices declined by 0.3 percent and Audemars Piguet by 1.3 percent in the second quarter, both brands, along with Patek Philippe, were among the best performers in the first quarter of 2025.

The report also highlighted a normalization of supply levels for pre-owned Rolex watches and a recovery in absorption rates. Demand for mid-tier brands such as Omega and IWC has also seen considerable growth, nearing record highs in the second quarter. Omega, for instance, experienced only a 0.78 percent decrease in pre-owned prices in mid-2024, demonstrating relative stability, according to the study.

Rose-Gold Patek Philippe Nautilus (Sotheby’s)

Despite the positive indicators, the broader pre-owned Swiss watch market still faces challenges, with 29 of the 35 tracked brands experiencing negative quarter-over-quarter performance, and 25 seeing an average price decline of at least 1 percent. Brands including Hublot and TAG Heuer saw more significant drops.

The pre-owned luxury watch market, estimated at $24.38 billion in 2023, is projected to reach $45.01 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.2 percent from 2024 to 2030, according the the report. North America led the market in 2023 with a 34.2 percent share of total revenue, while Asia Pacific is expected to exhibit the highest CAGR of 10.9 percent during the forecast period. Automatic pre-owned luxury watches continue to dominate the market, holding a 66.2 percent revenue share in 2023.

Industry experts suggest that the slight market cooling observed in 2024, following the price surge of 2022-2023, presents a strategic entry point for investors. The long-term value of heritage luxury watch models, strong brand equity, and controlled supply are expected to ensure continued investment potential.

This online-exclusive marks the fourth installment in the brand’s sought-after Essential monochrome series, following the success of its gray predecessors.

While Hublot is known for its audacious Big Bang designs and vibrant color palettes, the Essential Taupe editions demonstrate the brand’s capacity for understated elegance. Taupe, a sophisticated blend of gray and brown, is described by the brand as “soft-spoken yet strong, grounded yet elevated.” This genderless and seasonless hue aims to offer a timeless appeal for those who prefer a more subdued statement.

(Hublot)

Both the 42mm and 45mm models feature a polished and satin-finished titanium case and bezel. The sunray taupe dial is complemented by a unique strap that seamlessly fuses rubber and fabric in matching tones. Distinctive elements of the Essential collection are here as well, including a unique woven thread on the strap and the signature tone-on-tone monochrome aesthetic.

Underneath the anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a self-winding movement powers the timepiece, offering a 48-hour power reserve and 5 ATM water resistance. The Classic Fusion Essential Taupe retains all the hallmarks of the Classic Fusion line, including a bezel with six functional H-shaped screws, three central hands, and a discreet date window.

The “Big Bang Unico Summer 2025” is clearly designed to embody the essence of summer, featuring a striking color palette of sunny orange and Mediterranean blue. The Big Bang series watch’s micro-blasted orange ceramic case evokes the golden hour, while its sky-blue bezel mirrors the expanse of the sea.

Hublot’s New Square Bang Tourbillon Is The First To Feature A 3D Carbon Case & 2 Central Hands https://www.maxim.com/style/hublots-new-square-bang-tourbillon-is-the-first-to-feature-a-3d-carbon-case-2-central-hands/ Thu, 22 May 2025 09:00:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=260167
(Hublot)

Unveiled as the latest addition to Hublot’s Big Bang family in 2022, the luxury watchmaker’s Square Bang collection already featured a distinctive square case, a departure from the round Big Bang and the tonneau-shaped Spirit of Big Bang. Now, Hublot is going even further with the introduction of its first square timepiece housing a tourbillon and showcasing a fully integrated square movement design.

The Square Bang Tourbillon, with its bold 42mm square case, marks several significant firsts for the collection. It’s the first Square Bang to feature two central hands, the first to boast a 3D carbon case, the first Square Bang model to be regulated by a tourbillon and the first to incorporate exclusively square bridges within its movement.

(Hublot)

To achieve this groundbreaking design, Hublot leveraged the expertise of its in-house Manufacture, developing the MHUB6023 manual movement specifically for this timepiece. This new caliber comprises 174 components, all meticulously arranged with square or rectangular bridges. Each surface is adorned with a subtle interplay of matte and satin finishes, accentuating the varying depths of the bridges.

Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot, emphasized the innovative approach in a statement announcing the watch. “Until now, advances in square watches have been rather timid, usually confined to the case alone,” he said. “With the Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve, we wanted to take the exercise to its logical conclusion, by designing a movement whose architecture is also fully right-angled.” Tonare also highlighted the “straight, clean and sharp” design of the bridges, seemingly protecting the perpetually rotating tourbillon, barrel, and power reserve indicator.

(Hublot)

Reinforcing the square aesthetic, the timepiece’s main functional elements are strategically positioned on the four sides of the case: the winding mechanism on the right, the power reserve indicator on the left, the mainspring barrel at the top, and the tourbillon at the bottom. The skeletonized movement allows for complete visibility, showcasing the intricate mechanics and sharp angles.

(Hublot)

To commemorate the tourbillon to the Square Bang family, Hublot has crafted a bespoke 42mm case entirely from 3D carbon. This unique finish is achieved through a carbon composite woven in both vertical and horizontal lines, maintaining the square motif. This design continuity extends to the rubber strap, which features a textured square pattern. Priced at $100,500, the Square Bang Tourbillon also offers a four-day power reserve, with an indicator positioned at nine o’clock displaying the remaining days and hours.

Hublot Revamps MP-10 Tourbillon With Two New Limited Edition Timepieces https://www.maxim.com/style/hublot-revamps-mp-10-tourbillon-with-two-new-limited-edition-timepieces/ Thu, 08 May 2025 09:57:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=258936
(Hublot)

A tourbillon watch is a tricky endeavor to get right at the best of the times, but that wasn’t any reason for Hublot to back down: The Swiss watchmaker once again retooled its MP-10 Tourbillon in two impressive fabrications, each of which wear as much like works of art and science as they do a timekeeping device.

It’s already been a busy year for Hublot, with the debut of the seriously limited-edition Hublot Big Bang Unico Magic in multi-color ceramic, plus its Watches and Wonders 2025 launch of a Water Blue Sapphire edition of its flagship Big Bang Watch. Now, the Hublot MP-10 Tourbillon gets a reworking in black ceramic and highly impressive sapphire, compared to the original titanium build of the already wildly intricate original MP-10.

(Hublot)

Hublot notes it took three painstaking years to precisely construct and deliver 50 limited edition offerings of the original MP-10, nodding to the fact that the pursuit was part of “three years in which this veritable watchmaking UFO has remained not only unsurpassed, but unrivalled.” With no hands, no dial and no oscillating weight, the watch runs via two linear weights in a design set with a 35-degree inclined tourbillon.

(Hublot)

Using black ceramic as one option for the timepiece (once again limited to 50 editions) made perfect sense for Hublot, but opting for a sapphire construction for the even more rare 30-edition set of the Hublot MP-1O Tourbillon was a bold choice, the watchmaker notes, calling out the fact that the timepiece boasts zero right angles. Yes, zero right angles. The design was a choice geared toward avant-garde collectors, called “something bolder, more radical” by the luxury Swiss haute horologist.

(Hublot)

Its 592-component movement rotates off four displays showing hours and minutes in the upper third of the dial, accented by its central power reserve, fittingly enough in the center third of the dial. Seconds are then displayed on the tourbillon cage in the lower third, the better to showcase its intricate satin-brushed metal grey open mechanism. The results are ingenious, instantly striking and made to enhance the Hublot experience for the most dedicated collectors on the market. Priced at $44,000 for the sapphire edition and $33,000 for the black ceramic mode and available online via the watchmaker, it appears Hublot has once again doubled down on its tourbillon watchmaking prowess.

The Coolest Timepieces From Watches & Wonders 2025 https://www.maxim.com/style/the-coolest-timepieces-from-watches-wonders-2025/ Fri, 04 Apr 2025 10:00:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=255531 For just about one week every April, the glitz and glamor of the luxury watch world descends on arguably its home base, Geneva, for Watches and Wonders 2025. While other watch shows exist globally, it seems the planet’s finest watchmakers save the best of the best for Switzerland. Experts predicted a sporty turn for the likes of Rolex, along with a “Neo-Vintage Renaissance,” and the results so far are a bit all over the board: Rolex debuted a luxe sports watch, GMT complications have been paired with skeletonized dials, and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak has gotten a fresh revamp. While many of these are merely wish list-worthy, the simple fact remains: These are the coolest horological masterpieces from Watches and Wonders 2025 (so far).

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked in ‘Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50’

(Audemars Piguet)

The deep, rich blue of the “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” shade as created by Audemars Piguet actually dates back to the early 1970s, but here, it gets a modern reworking surrounding an astoundingly cool open-worked movement and dial design. Its self-winding Calibre 3132 movement is about as intricate as it gets, with the price tag to match. $101,100

Rolex Land-Dweller

(Rolex)

Rolex has been an industry benchmark rather than a challenger brand of sorts for years, so when the company decides to put its own spin on an elegant sport-meets-dress watch, the results are definitely eye-catching. The all-new Rolex Land-Dweller comes in crisp 40mm and 36mm editions, each featuring a retooled “Flat Jubilee” bracelet and tasteful design. From $13,900

Panerai Luminor Perpetual Calendar GMT Platinumtech

(Panerai)

Panerai’s watches are trusted by the likes of the Italian Navy SEALs and global sailing outfits worldwide, so innovation in bold fashion is top of mind for the luxe horologist. Its latest ode to the timeless Luminor has a bit of everything going for it, from the use of a proprietary alloy in its design to its main highlight, a semi-skeletonized sapphire dial and a GMT movement thrown in the mix, for good measure. Bells and whistles aplenty make this watch truly special among a slew of Watches and Wonders releases. $67, 600

Bell & Ross BR-03 Black Ceramic Skeleton

(Bell & Ross)

Bell & Ross reinvents the tool watch again, lending a skeletonized design to its signature square case design. The lightweight ceramic timepiece was “heavily inspired by the technical purity and functionality of aviation,” as all Bell & Ross watches tend to be. For monochromatic style that’s anything but boring, trust Bell & Ross $6,700

Tudor Black Bay 58 Master Chronometer

(Tudor)

Tudor watches don’t cut any corners: Its Black Bay has earned  “a reputation as an enthusiast’s favorite,” the company notes, and the watch industry at large seems to agree. But Tudor went to the workshop, so to speak, and tinkered with its inner make-up, retrofitting the Black Bay 58 with Master Chronometer certification to go along with its 39mm case size and a vivid burgundy bezel insert and dial. Don’t worry: Its 65-hour power reserve and manufacture Calibre MT5400-U movement still get the job done alongside a stylish new look. $4,600

Hublot Big Bang Unico in Water Blue Sapphire

(Hublot)

Hublot shook up the watch world two decades ago with the debut of the Big Bang, an impressive feat in the world of luxury sport watches to this day. And then, about a decade ago, Hublot introduced colored sapphire fabrication to its most famous silhouette, resulting in 2025’s special-edition take on the Big Bang. It’s a toast to two decades of what the company calls “the first truly iconic watch of the 21st century.” $138,000

IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber Tourbillon Skeleton XPL

(IWC)

IWC pilot’s watches are tailormade to take to the skies, but even that lofty mantle gets an impressive update with the latest edition of the Big Pilot’s Watch. Handsome and intimidating, proprietary SPRIN-g PROTECT technology defends its tourbillon construction against shocks, while its mechanics are visible through skeletonized plates, bridges and rotor.

A Ceratanium case and crown pair nicely with a black patterned rubber strap in ultra-sleek, bold fashion. And although the price is enough to make you look twice, it’s no typo: The latest from IWC should prove worth every penny. $185,000

Hublot Debuts ‘World’s First Multicolor Ceramic Watch’ With Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic https://www.maxim.com/style/hublot-debuts-worlds-first-multicolor-ceramic-watch-with-big-bang-unico-magic-ceramic/ Wed, 19 Feb 2025 09:20:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=252057
(Hublot Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic)

Hublot’s Big Bang series is making another splashy debut with a unique, multi-colored ceramic Big Bang timepiece dubbed the “Magic Ceramic.” The Swiss watchmaker—which has been developing and producing colored ceramics for more than a decade—says it has achieved a singular accomplishment with its latest Big Bang limited to just 20 examples.

“Each pigment used for color must go through different temperatures during the baking and moulding processes of the ceramic components. The challenge therefore lies in finding the perfect balance to obtain a homogeneous and flawless result—time and time again,” the brand trumpeted in a statement announcing the “world’s first multicolor ceramic watch.”

(Hublot Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic)

The Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic’s bezel, constructed in dark grey ceramic, features eye-catching blue circles arranged in a seemingly random pattern. Within the ceramic stunner beats the UNICO automatic flyback chronograph movement that’s “conceived, developed and manufactured” entirely by Hublot’s watch specialists. It’s finished in a grey tone matching the multi-colored ceramic watch’s dominant hue and comes with a black rubber strap.

(Hublot Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic)

Hublot’s Director of R&D Mathias Buttet added, “I feel an immense pride in seeing our team bring to life a material that perfectly embodies Hublot’s soul: a subtle blend of science, alchemy, and playful boldness. After more than four years of research, we have mastered the art of combining vivid, patented colors—a true technical feat. Thanks to the creativity and talent of our young engineers taking the lead, Hublot’s scientific approach and innovating spirit will continue to astonish.”

The Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic is limited to 20 watches at $33,000 each.

Hublot Releases New Versions Of The ‘Big Bang’ At LVMH Watch Week https://www.maxim.com/style/hublot-releases-new-versions-of-the-big-bang-at-lvmh-watch-week/ Wed, 22 Jan 2025 11:09:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=249942 LVMH Watch Week brings with it no shortage of surprises, and a peek behind the curtain into the minds of the luxury watch world. For Hublot, it’s a chance to reinterpret a modern favorite, as a revamped Big Bang MECA-10 debuts alongside a slew of other impressive timepieces in Los Angeles by way of Switzerland.

(Hublot)

Hublot just debuted a new Year of the Snake Big Bang, and it’s far from the only eye-catching release to debut this month. A new trio joins the Spirit of Big Bang collection, along with a vivid green Big Bang Tourbillon, but it appears the Big Bang MECA-10 is the timepiece the Swiss watchmaker places front and center, at least this week.

(Hublot)

As the company says, the Big Bang MECA-10 “stunned the world of watchmaking” upon its 2016 debut, with a twist on the conventional watch dial (it has none to speak of). The launch also served as a “masterclass in micromechanical engineering,” and its second iteration hopes to live up to that same impressive billing.

(Hublot)

More precisely (quite literally, in the case of the watch complication), the Big Bang MECA-10 puts its manual-winding skeleton movement on visible display, all in a more compact 42mm case that hues closely to Hublot’s original design aesthetic. The more compact size presented a distinct challenge to its designers, and the watch is an intricate work of art (and wrist candy) in its own right.

(Hublot)

A stunning 10-day power reserve is plenty innovative, and the MECA-10 indicates the remaining reserve using two mainspring barrels driven by a linear-gear-meets-circular-gear rack system, all positioned in a straight line. It speaks to barrel-driven complications from the likes of Urwerk, but with a distinct Hublot sensibility.

(Hublot)

With the rebooted MECA-10 watch (available in King Gold, Titanium or Carbon Black and starting at $23,000), the watchmaker says it has “reinvented creativity in a modern interpretation of the mechanical watch movement,” a lofty statement and perhaps a challenge for its future watchmakers. The new Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green also pushes the boundaries of Hublot watchmaking, using sapphire-esque SAXEM in an emerald green case.

(Hublot)

Just 18 units are available of the “vibrant and crystalline green” timepiece in a groundbreaking material, while the Spirit of Big Bang trio is a touch more recognizable, at least in fabrication if not color scheme. The same sport-meets-luxury appeal certainly appeals to the latest iteration of a favorite among watch enthusiasts.

The chronograph build of the Spirit of Big Bang plays off the iconic silhouette, but a trio of “new tones for a familiar form,” shake up the offering (the new shades were previously only found in the Big Bang main line of watches). With plenty of departures from the expected, in ways large and small, suffice to say that Hublot’s LVMH Watch Week offering offers up more than one grail-worthy watch.
