Hublot has officially expanded its Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-Day Power Reserve collection with the release of four new ceramic color options: red, black, yellow, and sky blue. The debut marks a significant extension of the line, which had previously only been available in white ceramic or carbon. The move, according to the luxury watchmaker, demonstrates its determination to reach all Spirit of Big Bang enthusiasts.

Born in 2014, the Spirit of Big Bang collection is known for its tonneau profile, structured design, and airy aesthetic. The new 42 mm models embody this spirit, carrying over signature design codes such as a skeleton movement, a bezel with six screws, a crown with a rubber grip, and a multi-layer case construction. Each of the four ceramic color editions is highly limited, with only 20 pieces available per model.

Collectors can choose from the new quartet of bright colors, each housing the HUB6020 manual movement. Specifically developed for the tonneau-shaped case, the movement features a tourbillon visible at 6 o’clock, a complication that enhances precision by compensating for the earth’s gravity. The caliber also boasts an off-center hour and minute dial at 3 o’clock and a power reserve indicator at 8 o’clock. The power reserve is extended to five days, one of the longest autonomies for this type of complication. The 100% Manufacture caliber is notable for its extreme skeletonization, a technical feat that hollowing out components to the very limits of their strength.

To celebrate the launch of these four colored ceramic models — which are joined by a fifth model in black sapphire, also limited to 20 pieces and priced at $161,000 — Hublot is unveiling a first-ever customization experience. New owners of one of the four limited-series ceramic models will receive their timepiece accompanied by two straps, one rubber and one velcro.

They will also receive a third bracelet and an additional bezel, chosen from an exclusive range of some 20 possible variants in different colors and materials, including carbon, ceramic, and optional stone-setting. Combined with the One Click interchangeable bracelet system, these options offer a high degree of personalization.

Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot, noted the special place the Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon holds with collectors. “The tonneau format is rarely a first acquisition. It requires a certain amount of watchmaking experience, which we are taking a step further today with these colored ceramic variants,” Tornare said.

Each of the four ceramic Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-Day Power Reserve models—Red Magic, Black Magic, Yellow Magic, and Sky Blue Ceramic—is priced at $104,000 each.

Hublot just debuted a new Year of the Snake Big Bang, and it’s far from the only eye-catching release to debut this month. A new trio joins the Spirit of Big Bang collection, along with a vivid green Big Bang Tourbillon, but it appears the Big Bang MECA-10 is the timepiece the Swiss watchmaker places front and center, at least this week.

As the company says, the Big Bang MECA-10 “stunned the world of watchmaking” upon its 2016 debut, with a twist on the conventional watch dial (it has none to speak of). The launch also served as a “masterclass in micromechanical engineering,” and its second iteration hopes to live up to that same impressive billing.

More precisely (quite literally, in the case of the watch complication), the Big Bang MECA-10 puts its manual-winding skeleton movement on visible display, all in a more compact 42mm case that hues closely to Hublot’s original design aesthetic. The more compact size presented a distinct challenge to its designers, and the watch is an intricate work of art (and wrist candy) in its own right.

A stunning 10-day power reserve is plenty innovative, and the MECA-10 indicates the remaining reserve using two mainspring barrels driven by a linear-gear-meets-circular-gear rack system, all positioned in a straight line. It speaks to barrel-driven complications from the likes of Urwerk, but with a distinct Hublot sensibility.

With the rebooted MECA-10 watch (available in King Gold, Titanium or Carbon Black and starting at $23,000), the watchmaker says it has “reinvented creativity in a modern interpretation of the mechanical watch movement,” a lofty statement and perhaps a challenge for its future watchmakers. The new Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green also pushes the boundaries of Hublot watchmaking, using sapphire-esque SAXEM in an emerald green case.

Just 18 units are available of the “vibrant and crystalline green” timepiece in a groundbreaking material, while the Spirit of Big Bang trio is a touch more recognizable, at least in fabrication if not color scheme. The same sport-meets-luxury appeal certainly appeals to the latest iteration of a favorite among watch enthusiasts.

The chronograph build of the Spirit of Big Bang plays off the iconic silhouette, but a trio of “new tones for a familiar form,” shake up the offering (the new shades were previously only found in the Big Bang main line of watches). With plenty of departures from the expected, in ways large and small, suffice to say that Hublot’s LVMH Watch Week offering offers up more than one grail-worthy watch.

The Hublot Big Bang is already a work of horological mastery, a bold watch with bold pedigree that can serve as a starting point for even further innovation in the world of luxury watches. It’s a high bar to clear, but the new Hublot MP-13 Tourbillon Bi-axis Retrograde is among the boldest Big Bangs in recent memory.

Announced as part of the stunning luxury watch trade show Watches and Wonders, there’s plenty to love about this timepiece, starting with the fact that it boasts a brand-new, 100 percent Hublot manufacture complication.

The double-axis tourbillon movement is impressive in its own right, displayed in both proud and intricate fashion as part of the dual retrograde display dial.

Hublot rightfully calls the watch one that’s “aimed at collectors eager to discover the watchmaking of tomorrow,” as well as a timepiece that “writes a new chapter in the MP story.”

The 44mm brushed titanium case is complemented by a sporty ridged black rubber strap for a distinctive touch, but it’s the dual-display dial that really steals the show (as with most Hublot Big Bang watches).

Hublot also notes that it’s one of the few watchmakers with the ability to devise and manufacture a double-axis tourbillon entirely in-house: The tourbillon completes a full rotation every minute on one axis, while also completing another rotation on the other axis every 30 seconds.

The movement is set by one crown at the 3-o’clock marking, and the display is meant to be read from left to right for what the watchmaker calls an intuitive timekeeping experience.

The haute horologist calls the effect “hypnotic and technical,” and one look at the movement itself drives home that point quite nicely.

For good measure, the tourbillon is both suspended and delivered with a skeletonized view for a further touch of technical watchmaking mastery.

What’s even more impressive is that the energy-consuming bi-axis retrograde movement demands, well, quite a lot of energy, yet the movement boasts a power reserve of 96 hours.

All of this doesn’t come cheaply, or at a large scale: Only 50 numbered editions of the MP-13 Tourbillon are set to hit the market, at the very rarefied price of $158,000.

In what Hublot is calling an exercise in “rainbow maximalism,” the ultra-luxe Swiss watchmaker is bringing all seven colors of the dazzling natural phenomena to one watch for the first time since the Big Bang Rainbow debuted in 2017. 

Available with a King Gold or white gold 43mm case, the Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Rainbow’s jewelry weighs alone in at nearly 36 carats, or just over 2.5 ounces. 

Each example boasts 484 baguette-cut stones of five varieties: red rubies, ultraviolet amethysts, Klein blue topaz, leaf green tsavorites, and sapphires in lemon yellow, fuchsia pink, and orange. 

Over the course of 1,200 hours, the plethora of precious stones are hand-selected, shaped and invisibly set on the case and bracelet, which sees the colors are graded around the bezel and across the band. 

Without a traditional dial, the bejeweled bauble’s mechanical workings also draw the eye, from the house-made HUB6035 movement and gold micro-rotor to the trio of transparent sapphire crystal bridges. 

Hublot hasn’t listed the Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Rainbow on its website yet, but Hypebeast reports that it’ll carry a cool $790,000 price tag when it drops. 

Hublot has teamed with brand ambassador and NHL great Alexander Ovechkin for a striking limited edition of their Big Bang model, the Big Bang Unico Red Carbon Alex Ovechkin.

Hublot has again demonstrated they aren’t afraid of incorporating up-to-date tech in their new products. The Red Carbon has been designed with a light but tough carbon fiber shot through with bright red striations and a matching red velcro strap.

The watchmaker says in a release that the “red accents consist of micro-glass fibers in the form of ‘Non-Woven Fabric’ (NWF).” This design further strengthens the composite material from which the case is made. 

Hublot picked this particular blend of materials for both high performance and to reflect both Ovechkin’s “extraordinary resilience and longevity.”

The eye-catching red detail work reflects the color of the Russian flag in addition to the jersey colors of the team Ovechkin leads as captain, the NHL’s Washington Capitals.

The coronavirus pandemic has turned the world upside down in many ways, but at least one thing remains the same: Watch enthusiasts have kept a weather eye out for the latest and greatest timepieces on the market, and we’ve just got a sneak peek at what’s new and what’s next with the start of LVMH Watch Week.

Last year’s jealousy-inducing LVMH Watch Week took place in luxurious confines in Dubai, but this year’s digital edition is different in feel, if not the resulting envy for the world’s finest watches, including a seriously rare gold watch from Hublot.

It was tough to select just one standout release so far, but the Hublot Big Bang MP-11 Magic Gold is, as expected, one of the coolest watches to hit the market in some time. The new timepiece joins an already jam-packed lineup of Big Bang MP-11 watches (the Big Bang MP-11 Blue Sapphire is also a new addition to Hublot’s flagship range).

So named for the MP-11 manufacture calibre found in other iterations of the watch, the Magic Gold variant really is like something out of the mind of a timepiece-loving sorcerer, made with scratch-resistant 18-karat gold (or “Magic Gold”) alloy. It’s a first-of-its-kind innovation that results in a striking and highly covetable watch, and that’s putting it lightly.

Seven in-line barrels make up a movement that offers a remarkable 14-day power reserve and the 45mm case diameter ensures this watch is one that’ll pop on any wrist. The blending of an 18-karat gold case and a black rubber strap gives this watch the sort of sporty appeal that’s sure to turn heads, too.

Of course, not just anyone can get their hands on the Big Bang MP-11 Magic Gold Watch: Only 50 pieces are available. Take one look, even virtually, and it’s clear that it’s a timepiece you simply have to see to believe. 

Between camouflaged, Ferrari-branded, and blacked-out variants of the Hublot Big Bang, it’s become hard to find a truly standout edition of the Swiss watchmaker’s flagship model. Yet the newly announced “Big Bang Unico Full Baguette King Gold Rainbow” still manages, thanks largely to a plethora of multi-colored precious stones. 

An 18-karot gold 45mm case serves as a mere backdrop for a dazzling array of 100 colored gemstones, including pink, blue, yellow and orange sapphires, purple amethysts, and blue topazes. 

The bezel is adorned with another 112 baguette-cut gemstones that are color-coordinated with the 48 gemstones set on the dial and indices. The alligator and natural-rubber strap is set with 30 more mineral pieces, bringing the grand total to 290. 

Beneath it all is Hublot’s own Unico self-winding movement with a flyback mechanism and column wheel. The proprietary implement makes it possible for wearers to update a second time zone at the push of a button, allowing the local time to be read easily via the conventional main hand of the watch.

Provided literature understatedly describes the blingy bauble as “highly colorful.” But Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe certainly didn’t downplay the significance of the latest Big Bang timepiece in a statement. 

“It requires meticulousness, expertise and dexterity to obtain this harmonious gradation of the gemstones and create a perfect connection between the emotion they arouse and the watchmaking technique,” he said. “Draftsmen, gemologists and setters worked together to achieve this setting in which pink gold is present only to gently emphasize the contours.”

While you can cop any old Unico-powered 45mm Big Bang watch for about $20,000, the Full Baguette King Gold Rainbow is priced at a kingly $348,000. Contact Hublot directly if you’d rather have this than, say, a supercar. Or a house. 

Watchmaker Hublot partnered with leather-centric menswear designers Berluti for the first time in 2016 to blend the luxury houses’ aesthetics. It’s a simpatico relationship worth celebrating and the new Big Bang Berluti does just that—but in a decidedly old-school, masculine way.

Berluti artistic director Kris Van Assche and Hublot blended their creativity and craft for this 15th-anniversary celebration of the Big Bang model, which was first introduced to the market in 2005 by Luxembourg watchmaker Jean-Claude Biver.

The Big Bang was an immediate disruptor among luxury watches, combining materials like precious metals and rubber in new and unorthodox ways. It pointed the way forward for Hublot and secured its competitive standing among old legacy brands like Rolex and Omega.

Hublot x Berluti’s partnership has come to life in the exquisitely designed Classic Fusion, which is a stunning example of tradition and innovation. With the Big Bang Berluti, they evolved, fashioning a more modern take on that aesthetic, blending Berluti’s traditionalist approach and Hublot’s modernism with an elegance that is uncommon and truly unique.

334 baguette-cut diamonds, 12.5 carats

Arranged in close rows and invisible settings on 18-karat white gold, 243 diamonds (8.6 carats) decorate the 42 mm case and the bezel. An additional 61 stones (1.3 carats) add extra opulence to the dial of the flyback chronograph. Hublot’s Unico 2 manufacture movement, with an oscillating second clutch and an adjustable ball-bearing chronograph friction system, powers the timepiece, which is paired with an alligator strap and 30-diamond buckle. $316,000

Spirit of Big Bang High Jewelry 

346 baguette-cut diamonds, 13.1 carats

Equipped with the El Primero-succeeding Hublot HUB4700 movement, the Spirit of Big Bang gets 178 diamonds (8.1 carats) on its tonneau case, and 113 more (2.1 carats) set around the edges of the indices, the minute disc at 3 o’clock, the hour disc at 6 o’clock and the second disc at 9 o’clock in its High Jewelry appointment. An alligator leather strap with a buckle set with 55 baguette-cut diamonds (2.9 carats) completes the package. $369,000

Classic Fusion High Jewelry 

427 baguette-cut diamonds, 20.8 carats

Like the Big Bang Unico High Jewelry, the Classic Fusion gets features invisible closed settings and white gold, but the diamond count is upped to 391 (18.6 carats) to create a gorgeous shimmering effect. A composition of rectangular and trapeze-cut stones covers the dial, beneath which is the HUB1710 self-winding movement. The 36-diamond (2.2-carat) buckle is paired with an alligator leather and natural rubber strap. $369,000

Following a limited release of the Big Bang “All Black” GMT that marked the opening of Hublot’s new Tokyo flagship store, the historic Swiss watchmaker has once again teamed up with venerated Japanese fashion designer and master tailor Yohji Yamamoto on a beautifully crafted bauble from the top-tier Big Bang line. 

The one-of-200 Big Bang Camo Yohji Yamamoto isn’t quite as exclusive as the pair’s last collab, which was limited to a mere 50 pieces. Its 45mm case and case back and bezel are also cut from matt black ceramic, but the sapphire dial features superimposed outlines which form biomorphic patches that were inspired by Yamamoto’s camouflage motif, with his signature at 6 o’clock. 

Two straps are included with purchase, one of which which was constructed using with a particularly intensive process that Hublot claims is an industry first. Instead of merely printing the dial’s camo pattern on a strap, differently shaded constituent shapes were cut out, assembled and fused together via rubber vulcanization. The second, more understated strap is made from a black fabric and matching plated titanium clasp. 

Housed inside the case are Hublot’s proprietary Unico manufactuer movement with a 72-hour power reserve, along with over 300 components and 38 jewels.
