The Cinnamon Toast Crunch shrimp tail saga has taken yet another strange twist. 

The wife of the man who made a host of unsavory discoveries in the sugary breakfast cereal is none other than former Maxim cover model Danielle Fishel Karp, the Boy Meets World actress who played Topanga in the hit 1990s sitcom. 

“Ummmm @CTCSquares – why are there shrimp tails in my cereal? (This is not a bit),” her husband, comedian Jensen Karp, tweeted initially. 

Cinnamon Toast Crunch’s official Twitter account was tagged alongside a photo of what appear to be sugar-coated shrimp tails and string found in the bag. In a follow-up tweet, Jensen tagged General Mills, the cereal’s producer.

“We’re sorry to see what you found! We would like to report this to our quality team and replace the box. Can you please send us a DM to collect more details? Thanks!” Cinnamon Toast Crunch wrote back. 

A the New York Post notes, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch social media runner then took a major misstep in telling Jensen that a “further investigation” found that the foreign ingredients weren’t shrimp tails, but “an accumulation of the cinnamon sugar that sometimes can occur when ingredients aren’t thoroughly blended. We assure you that there’s no possibility of cross contamination with shrimp.”

“‘Accumulation of sugar particles,'” Danielle tweeted. “I am truly at a loss for words.”

Also incredulous, Jensen fired back, alleging that they were indeed “cinnamon coated shrimp tails.”

“She’s honestly mad,” Karp told The Post of Danielle’s take on the situation. “She is really disappointed in General Mills’ statement and hoped to see more concern, rather than just tell me it was actually sugar, not shrimp tails (which is insane). People are allergic (I am luckily not) and their main focus should be finding out how it happened to help anyone who could also run into this.”

Even worse, Jensen added, “Before I had the shrimp tail plop in the bowl – I had eaten a bowl. This is a bummer.”

He also (allegedly) found other disgusting items after further exploration, including string and cereal pieces containing unidentifiable black marks. The second bag in the CT Crunch family pack, which was clumsily taped back together, appeared to contain dental floss.

“I am going to get the black stuff tested today,” Jensen continued on Twitter. “Most importantly, nothing new from General Mills since they asked me to send them the shrimp tails that they had tried to convince me was sugar.”

Jensen then shared an apparent series of direct messages between he and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch account, in which the brand asked for him to FedEx the food in question. He declined.  

“Calling it sugar was super weird and the fact that you haven’t said anything to the contrary doesn’t allow me to trust you with it at all,” his reply read.

Jensen’s most recent update reads, “I am happy to report: a Carcinologist (crustacean researcher) that works at NHMLA is going to morphologically identify the shrimp using microscopy and he will work with a team of researchers to use DNA to try and identify the putative shrimp down to species.”

“They also are paying for this to be done, which is helpful when a corporation is telling the internet I actually found wads of sugar. So basically, my shrimp got a scholarship.”

Breaking news: Danielle Fishel, a.k.a. Topanga, a.k.a. your ultimate teenage crush, is engaged. I repeat: Danielle Fishel is officially promised in marriage, so a heartfelt congratulations to her! 

But commiserations to you, I guess. Your beloved ’90s dream girl is taken once again. 

The Boy Meets World bombshell took to Instagram to announce the big news that her boo, Drop the Mic executive producer Jensen Karp, had popped the question, thereby making her the future Mrs. Danielle Karp.

The happy couple has been together since 2017, and clearly, her new hubby is more than ecstatic to be marrying everyone’s teenage crush, so much so that he Tweeted: “We went to high school together and never shared more than a hello. Now she will be the person who continually asks me ‘Why?’ when I buy another pair of Jordans for the rest of our lives. Love you @daniellefishel.” 

Damn. To go from ignoring each other in high school to becoming husband and wife is a serious upgrade. Well done, Karp. Well done. You achieved every ’90s teenager’s life goals.

And so, let us celebrate this royal occasion and simultaneously mourn the end of Topanga’s unmarried years by revisiting some of her sexiest moments.

Congrats, future-Mrs. Danielle “Topanga” Karp! Also, what a name. 

Topanga is single. I repeat: TOPANGA IS SINGLE! That’s right, gentlemen. Your ultimate Boy Meets World teenage dream girl, Danielle Fishel, is back on the market. 

According to E! News, Fishel and husband Tim Belusko decided to quietly call it quits after two years of marriage. While there’s no news yet as to why our former cover girl and Belusko — who is seven years her junior —broke up, Fishel previously revealed what initially attracted her to him: a Mortal Kombat tattoo on his calf. 

“I’m not a huge tattoo person, but I loved it” she told Maxim in 2013. “I actually have two of my own, which I would get laser-removed, but I’m afraid they’ll look weird. I have one on the back of my neck and I have a tramp stamp.” Tramp stamp, you say? Go on…

We wish Fishel all the best in her future single endeavors. In the meantime, fear not, Topanga is alive and well in the Girl Meets World series, currently airing on the Disney Channel. 

There are few women who perfectly capture the vision of a ’90s dream girl more than Danielle Fishel, the brunette beauty who captured our attention as the bubbly Topanga Lawrence on Boy Meets World and, more recently, Girl Meets World. 

Fishel’s come a long way since her final appearance as everyone’s ultimate teenage crush in 2000. 

She’s appeared in several National Lampoon films, landed a starring role in the controversial drama Boiling Pot, and appeared on the cover of Maxim as our April 2013 cover girl following news of a Girl Meets World reboot, which was cancelled to the dismay of many after its third season. 

When the now-38-year-old stunner decided to reprise her role as Topanga alongside Ben Savage, she admitted that, to some people, she’ll probably be Topanga forever — and she’s perfectly OK with that. 

“It’s easy to remember,” she told the Daily Beast of being mistakenly called by her character’s name on the street. “That’s part of the reason why it’s never surprised me or bothered me that somebody doesn’t know my real name. What’s easier to remember, Danielle Fishel or Topanga? Topanga sticks with you.”

Topanga’s certainly stuck with us, and the talented Fishel’s only become more beautiful in the intervening years. Join us in celebrating the glory of our ultimate ’90s dream girl, our beloved Topanga, forever and ever.
