It’s right there in the lyrics of his inescapable hit single “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” after all: As Shaboozey sings, “they know me and Jack Daniel’s got a history.” The song has been positively everywhere since its release just last April, spending 19 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and leading to four Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist, for the singer (real name: Collins Obinna Chibueze).

In fitting fashion, its success led Shaboozey to team up with the iconic Tennesse whiskey maker as part of the Jack Daniel’s “Highway No. 7” cross-country music series. Ahead of a show sponsored by Old No. 7 at New York City’s Terminal 5 earlier this month, Shaboozey was grateful to see his dreams and hard work taking shape and paying off, saying Jack Daniel’s is “like my number one fan.”

(Shaboozey at New York City’s Terminal 5/Courtesy of Jack Daniel’s)

For the singer, it’s still all about being authentic as he kicks his “The Great American Roadshow” Tour into high gear. “I’m big on just putting parts of myself in the music,” he told Maxim as he prepared to head to New York City. “It’s just really cool that… with, the mention of Jack Daniel’s, so much support could come from it.”

(Photo by Daniel Prakopcyk/Courtesy of Shaboozey)

The ultra-stylish 30-year-old singer added that working with Jack Daniel’s feels like family, and feels like a more-than-natural fit. “That’s something I’ve kind of done my whole career is… putting some of my favorite things in life into my music,” he added.

(Shaboozey at New York City’s Terminal 5/Courtesy of Jack Daniel’s)

More than 1,000 guests got to see the singer-songwriter debut a new song, “Move On,” and the Grammy-nominated artist naturally brought plenty of Old No. 7 onstage. For a distillery with as much heritage (and modern innovation) as Jack Daniel’s, Shaboozey favors the classics when it comes to whiskey. “I like JD, you know what I mean? Some of my friends call me… the Jack Man,” he said with a laugh.

(Shaboozey at New York City’s Terminal 5/Courtesy of Jack Daniel’s)

Of a hectic past year, Shaboozey described it as “rewarding” and “exhilarating,” and notes that he’s eager for more, describing his mindset as “go, go, go, go” as he works to build off the success of his breakout third album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.

(Photo by Daniel Prakopcyk/Courtesy of Shaboozey)

Musically, the singer lists everyone from Gillian Welch to Johnny Cash as inspirations, along with the gritty outlaw country of Townes Van Zandt, and naturally, the singer is a fan of any music with a focus on “great storytelling,” he says. Those inspirations should give the artist plenty to go off as he plots his next album, and Shaboozey noted his band will bring a mobile recording rig to try out new songs on tour for the first time.

(Photo by Daniel Prakopcyk/Courtesy of Shaboozey)

His perspective goes well beyond whiskey and songwriting, though. The self-described “jeanhead” is also a big fan of Levi’s and even starred in a short film for the brand’s recent Global Icons campaign. “I wear a lot of jeans, a lot of Western shirts, and it’s always about style and how I can feel good up on stage,” he said.

(Photo by Daniel Prakopcyk/Courtesy of Shaboozey)

Shaboozey’s rise in the music scene has taken him to the likes of legendary rock clubs like Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club, and helped him dial in his setlist and stage design (Jack Daniel’s whiskey bottles, like any good rock show, are certainly par for the course).

“The set is really awesome. We spent a lot of time dialing it in and trying to make it as great as possible,” Shaboozey added, noting that “it takes a village to get here.” As Shaboozey brings his global smash hit (and plenty more fun) out on the road, check out his setlist here and be sure to bring your dancin’ boots (and an appetite for Jack Daniel’s whiskey).

Jack Daniel’s Launches New Tennessee Blackberry Whiskey https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/jack-daniels-launches-new-tennessee-blackberry-whiskey/ Wed, 06 Aug 2025 08:17:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=267807

Jack Daniel’s is expanding its flavor portfolio with the launch of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Blackberry, a new expression that blends the brand’s signature whiskey with fruity flavor notes of fresh blackberries. The iconic Tennessee brand’s latest bottle follows their other flavored whiskeys, including Tennessee Honey, Tennessee Fire, and Tennessee Apple.

The summer-ready new spirit is made with the distillery’s classic Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey, distilled from an 80 percent corn, 12 percent malted barley, and 8 percent rye mash bill. The whiskey undergoes Jack Daniel’s signature mellowing process, filtering through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal, before being aged in new, charred American oak barrels. The result is a smooth, 70-proof whiskey that the Lynchburg-based brand hopes is the perfect foundation for the new blackberry infusion.

“The smooth, well-rounded finish of our Tennessee Whiskey makes it one of the most versatile expressions to pair with unexpected flavor,” said Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller, Chris Fletcher. “By adding the ripe notes of blackberries, we’ve created an approachable spirit that’s full of character, easy to enjoy with friends and perfect for any season.”

With “sweet and tangy” blackberry notes, Jack Daniel’s latest whiskey is meant for sipping neat, on the rocks, or as a key cocktail ingredient. Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Blackberry hits liquor store shelves nationwide this month at the very accessible price of $21.99 per bottle.

Jack Daniel’s Launches Limited Edition Rye Whiskey Finished In High Toast Maple Barrels https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/jack-daniels-launches-limited-edition-rye-whiskey-finished-in-high-toast-maple-barrels/ Tue, 31 Dec 2024 09:21:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=248594
(Jack Daniel’s)

Jack Daniel’s is offering up a new edition of its Distillery Series line of “experimental whiskeys” with a Tennessee straight rye finished in High Toast Maple Barrels. Distillery Series Selection No. 14 begins with Jack Daniel’s traditional grain bill of 70 percent rye, 12 percent malted barley and 18 percent corn and is charcoal mellowed before entering into a new, charred American white oak barrel, according to the whiskey brand.

Once fully matured, the newfangled rye was entered into a second high-toast, no-char maple barrel for an additional three years. Initially released in 2022 as part of the Distillery Series, the whiskey was finished in a high-toast maple barrel for an additional 20 months from that original release.

The brand’s latest limited-edition whiskey “has an aroma of tobacco and clove” and “rich flavors of rye combined with notes of dried fruit, chocolate and caramel to build on a sweet maple finish, softening the peppery rye spice,” according to a Jack Daniel’s statement announcing the release.

Selected by Whiskey Taster Clint Bailey, Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in High Toast Maple Barrels is bottled at 107-proof (53.5 percent ABV) in 375-ml bottles. It’s available exclusively at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop at the Jack Daniel’s Distillery, with a suggested retail price of $43.99. There will only be 3,300 bottles offered, making it the most limited Distillery Series release yet.

Jack Daniel’s Debuts Single Barrel Special Release Whiskey https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/jack-daniels-debuts-limited-edition-single-barrel-special-release-whiskey/ Tue, 10 Sep 2024 08:36:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=241274
(Jack Daniel’s)

Jack Daniel’s just unveiled the Single Barrel Special Release Coy Hill Barrelhouse 8, a limited-edition whiskey that matured at the famed Tennessee distillery’s highest elevations.

Jack Daniel’s Coy Hill Barrelhouse 8 started with the traditional Jack Daniel’s mash bill of 80 percent corn, 12 percent malted barley, and 8 percent rye. After distillation, the whiskey was charcoal-mellowed, poured into charred American white oak barrels in 2013, and left to age on the fifth and sixth floors of Jack Daniel’s Coy Hill Barrelhouse 8.

The latest whiskey from the brand’s Single Barrel Special Release series is bottled at barrel strength, ranging from 122 to 137.5 proof.

“Our annual Special Release series has allowed us to showcase the whiskey making credentials of the Jack Daniel Distillery, especially with our recent Coy Hill releases,” said Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Chris Fletcher. “This year’s release builds upon the mystique of the Coy Hill barrel houses that see such drastic temperature swings throughout the whiskey’s maturation. Coy Hill Barrelhouse 8 is the same recipe as our Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey, but the unique elements, time, and mother nature have helped to craft a whiskey with an incredible range of flavors and proofs that would be impossible to replicate.”

Coy Hill Barrelhouse 8 “features Jack Daniel’s signature notes of caramel and vanilla alongside hints of candied fruit, rich toffee and molasses,” according to the brand. On the nose, expect “aromas of baking spices, cinnamon and clove paired with a balanced finish of charred oak and dark brown sugar.”

The 2024 Special Release follows two earlier whiskeys matured on Coy Hill, including the 2021 Coy Hill High Proof and the 2022 Small Batch Coy Hill High Proof, which boasted the highest proofs in Jack Daniel’s history. The latest limited-edition bottle is available now for a suggested retail price of $79.99.

Jack Daniel’s Salutes The Military With ‘Heroes Selection’ Barrel-Proof Rye Whiskey https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/jack-daniels-salutes-the-military-with-heroes-selection-barrel-proof-rye-whiskey/ Wed, 14 Aug 2024 09:20:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=239763
(Jack Daniel’s)

A new barrel-proof expression from Jack Daniel’s celebrates America’s armed forces, but the proprietor of Tennessee’s Old No. 7 whiskey didn’t just slap a military branch name on a bottle and call it good. The 2024 Heroes Selection Barrel Proof Rye, as the name suggests, was selected by Navy veteran Melvin Keebler, who also happens to be a Jack Daniel’s executive.

“Community, camaraderie and the importance of mission are the core principles that I feel my military service shares with my work today at the Jack Daniel Distillery,” Keebler said. “It is my privilege to select this whiskey in honor of the men and women who continue to serve and protect our freedom.”

U.S. Navy Veteran and Jack Daniel’s SVP General Manager Melvin Keebler (Jack Daniel’s)

Bottled at proof points ranging from 125 to 140 (62.5 to 70 percent ABV), the amber liquid starts with a grain bill of 70 percent rye, 18 percent corn and 12 percent malted barley before it’s distilled and aged in new American white oak barrels. Jack Daniel’s says the resulting whiskey features “a complex aroma of rich caramel and toasted subtle fruit.” As a nod the heroes it honors, each bottle is topped with JD dog tags and comes in a special green gift box.

The brand’s support for the military is nothing new. Since 2011, Jack Daniel’s Operation Ride Home and its charity partner, the Armed Services YMCA, have raised nearly $3 million to cover costs for nearly 13,000 junior-enlisted service members and their family members to travel home for the holidays. While it’s unclear if sales from the 2024 Heroes Selection will directly benefit Jack Daniel’s Operation Ride Home, the whiskey will raise awareness for the cause at the very least. Those interested can get involved directly by donating online or purchasing a cask from one of several Jack Daniel’s “Barrel Trees” that will be erected in cities major cities across the country this coming holiday season.

Jack Daniel’s Heroes Selection Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye is available in 750ml bottles for a suggested retail price of $69.99 in select military retail locations beginning this month.

Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Launches Twice-Barreled Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/jack-daniels-distillery-series-launches-twice-barreled-tennessee-straight-rye-whiskey/ Thu, 18 Jul 2024 10:16:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=237474
(Jack Daniel’s)

From a bottled-in-bond rye to a 12-year-old Tennessee elixir, the Jack Daniel’s portfolio is filled with innovative expressions that build on the brand’s flagship Old No. 7. The latest new addition expands JD’s Distillery Series Selection range, which previously yielded a tequila twist on an otherwise thoroughly American whiskey.

The Distillery Series Twice Barreled Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey begins with Jack Daniel’s rye recipe, featuring a grain bill of 70 percent rye, 12 percent malted barley and 18 percent corn. The whiskey is charcoal-mellowed and aged in a charred American white oak barrel before—as the name suggests—it finishes in a second charred American white oak barrel for an additional two and a half years. According to JD, the second barreling imparts sweet smoke/burnt sugar aromas, intensifies the charred oak flavor, and brings out blackstrap molasses notes. The finish features spearmint, anise, and dry baking spices.

“Our Tennessee Rye is a take on rye whiskey that is uniquely Jack Daniel’s. The 70 percent rye grain bill allows the whiskey to shine through with just the right amount of spiciness and boldness,” said Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller. “We’re excited to add a limited-edition expression to our rye lineup with this release, which introduces the whiskey to a second barreling to create a profile with even more depth and character.”

Bottled at 53.7 percent ABV in 375-ml quantities, Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Twice Barreled Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey is available in select Tennessee stores and at the JD distillery’s White Rabbit Bottle Shop for $41.99.

Jack Daniel’s & McLaren Racing Launch Whiskey Collab For F1 Season https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/mclaren-racing-revs-up-liter-bottles-of-jack-daniels-whiskey-for-f1-season/ Thu, 28 Mar 2024 08:07:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=229972
(Jack Daniel’s/McLaren)

A Jack Daniel’s bottle clad in a very specific orange color can only mean one thing: a new, limited-edition McLaren Racing bottle.

Like last year, the Tennessee whiskey stalwart and British Formula One team have collaborated on a JD bottle dressed in the same papaya orange shade that wraps MCL38 race cars.

The whiskey within doesn’t stray from Jack Daniel’s tried-and-true specs. Starting with a grain bill of 80% corn, 8% rye, and 12% malted barley, the distillate is filtered through 10 feet of charcoal and aged in American white oak barrels before being bottled at 80 proof (40% abv).

“We’re proud to celebrate the continued partnership between McLaren and Jack Daniel’s, two brands known around the world for representing a spirit of boldness and authenticity,” said Jack Daniel’s brand director Jamie Butler. “Together, we’ve created unmatched fan experiences around F1 races and are looking to build upon that success and accelerate in the new race season.”

The timing of the announcement is close to perfect. At his most recent F1 outing, the Australian Grand Prix, McLaren Racing driver Lando Norris claimed his 14th career podium and first since 2023’s Sao Paulo GP. Between his and teammate Oscar Piastri’s efforts, McLaren Racing comfortably holds third in the 2024 Constructors’ Standings, which is beyond expectations given Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes’ historic dominance.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with Jack Daniel’s as they release another limited-edition bottle,” added McLaren Racing executive Matt Dennington. “The launch of last year’s bottle was a huge success, and it is great that we continue to launch unique and exciting activations for our fans globally.”

Look out for liter-sized Jack Daniel’s x McLaren Racing bottles online and in select U.S. markets and F1 race cities internationally.

Jack Daniel’s Releases New Batches Of Its Vaunted 10- and 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskeys https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/jack-daniels-releases-new-batches-of-its-vaunted-10-and-12-year-old-tennessee-whiskeys/ Mon, 12 Feb 2024 09:50:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=226600
(Jack Daniel’s)

Jack Daniel’s has launched new batches of its 12-Year-Old and 10-Year-Old whiskey—the latest releases in the venerable Tennessee brand’s Aged Series, an annual drop of age-stated expressions that debuted in 2021.

The Lynchburg-based spirits giant assures fans that “predominant notes of oak, butterscotch and tobacco” distinguish each aged whiskey, further edifying Jack Daniel’s collectors that the 12-Year-Old “has predominant notes of pipe tobacco, oak, and butterscotch,” while the 10-Year-Old is “oak-forward with layers of fruit and cocoa.”

Both whiskeys were charcoal mellowed and aged in new, toasted, and charred American white oak barrels. They also share the same grain bill as a classic Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey: 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye.

Jack Daniel’s 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 2 clocks in at 107 proof (53.5% abv) and Jack Daniel’s 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 3 is 97 proof (48.5% abv).

They’re available in limited quantities across the U.S. for suggested retail prices of $94.99 and $84.99 per bottle, respectively, as well as online outlets like ReserveBar if you can’t find these collector-quality whiskeys on your local liquor store shelf.

“Our Jack Daniel’s Aged Series has given us the opportunity to produce modern whiskeys that simultaneously capture the essence of the liquid Mr. Jack created over 150 years ago,” said Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller, of the company’s latest aged bottles. “These releases embody the artistry, passion and craftsmanship that define Jack Daniel’s legacy, and I’m excited for our friends to enjoy this year’s batches of special whiskeys.”
