It’s right there in the lyrics of his inescapable hit single “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” after all: As Shaboozey sings, “they know me and Jack Daniel’s got a history.” The song has been positively everywhere since its release just last April, spending 19 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and leading to four Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist, for the singer (real name: Collins Obinna Chibueze).

In fitting fashion, its success led Shaboozey to team up with the iconic Tennesse whiskey maker as part of the Jack Daniel’s “Highway No. 7” cross-country music series. Ahead of a show sponsored by Old No. 7 at New York City’s Terminal 5 earlier this month, Shaboozey was grateful to see his dreams and hard work taking shape and paying off, saying Jack Daniel’s is “like my number one fan.”

For the singer, it’s still all about being authentic as he kicks his “The Great American Roadshow” Tour into high gear. “I’m big on just putting parts of myself in the music,” he told Maxim as he prepared to head to New York City. “It’s just really cool that… with, the mention of Jack Daniel’s, so much support could come from it.”

The ultra-stylish 30-year-old singer added that working with Jack Daniel’s feels like family, and feels like a more-than-natural fit. “That’s something I’ve kind of done my whole career is… putting some of my favorite things in life into my music,” he added.

More than 1,000 guests got to see the singer-songwriter debut a new song, “Move On,” and the Grammy-nominated artist naturally brought plenty of Old No. 7 onstage. For a distillery with as much heritage (and modern innovation) as Jack Daniel’s, Shaboozey favors the classics when it comes to whiskey. “I like JD, you know what I mean? Some of my friends call me… the Jack Man,” he said with a laugh.

Of a hectic past year, Shaboozey described it as “rewarding” and “exhilarating,” and notes that he’s eager for more, describing his mindset as “go, go, go, go” as he works to build off the success of his breakout third album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.

Musically, the singer lists everyone from Gillian Welch to Johnny Cash as inspirations, along with the gritty outlaw country of Townes Van Zandt, and naturally, the singer is a fan of any music with a focus on “great storytelling,” he says. Those inspirations should give the artist plenty to go off as he plots his next album, and Shaboozey noted his band will bring a mobile recording rig to try out new songs on tour for the first time.

His perspective goes well beyond whiskey and songwriting, though. The self-described “jeanhead” is also a big fan of Levi’s and even starred in a short film for the brand’s recent Global Icons campaign. “I wear a lot of jeans, a lot of Western shirts, and it’s always about style and how I can feel good up on stage,” he said.

Shaboozey’s rise in the music scene has taken him to the likes of legendary rock clubs like Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club, and helped him dial in his setlist and stage design (Jack Daniel’s whiskey bottles, like any good rock show, are certainly par for the course).

“The set is really awesome. Three Beyoncé-led Levi’s commercials—and one Post Malone-featuring duet—have culminated in the launch of a new Queen Bey-approved collection of bedazzled denim. To mark the occasion, the brand had the “Texas Hold ‘Em” superstar saddle up one more time to bring its “Reiimagine” campaign to a close.

In the 90-second Denim Cowboy featurette, which combines new scenes and extended cuts from the previously released Launderette, Pool Hall and Refrigerator shorts inspired by classic Levi’s ads, the genre-bending Cowboy Carter musician rides in on a horse and out on a motorcycle as her “Levii’s Jeans” hit provides a soundtrack for her small-town errand day.

Hero pieces from the new Beyoncé x Levi’s collection of laced, rhinestone-studded and embroidered denim appear throughout, including 501 jeans that she wins in a pool game against Justified and Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant, the ’90s Shrunken Trucker paired with 501 Curve jeans, and an all-new 501 silhouette.

Three finishes will be available across seven pieces, all of which feature collection-exclusive leather patches and the brand’s double arcuate stitch on the back pockets. “Western Crystal” brings crystal embellishments to the ’90s Shrunken Trucker, 501 Curve and 501 ’90s, while the Laced Up finish adds lacing details to the ’90s Shrunken Trucker and 501 Curve. The Authentic Finish takes a raw-denim approach for a more subtle aesthetic on the ’90s Shrunken Trucker and 501 Curve.

Beyoncé isn’t the only superstar with her own high-profile denim collection. American Eagle’s “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans” campaign has generated countless headlines and a bizarre backlash, even prompting President Trump to defend the campaign by calling AE’s commercial the “hottest ad out there.” According to CNBC, American Eagle’s share prices have surged a whopping 23 percent in the wake of the viral controversy.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour is the highest grossing in the history of country music, generating more than $350 million in ticket sales across 75 concerts worldwide. Levi’s has announced a buy-back and resale program called Levi’s SecondHand, which allows customers to buy pre-owned Levi’s pieces directly from the denim giant for $30 to $100. People can also earn gift cards worth $15 to $25 toward future purchases by selling their old pieces back to Levi’s.

The move, announced on Monday with the help of Levi’s ambassador Hailey Bieber, will allow Levi’s to recapture the surging market for secondhand Levi’s that already exists online and in thrift stores, as well as meeting the growing call for sustainability. The program officially launches on Tuesday, Oct. 6. 

“Repurposing and repairing clothes requires minimal additional energy input, no water and no dyes to make more jeans,” Levi’s CMO Jennifer Sey said, in a statement about the launch. 

“Buying a used pair of Levi’s through SecondHand saves approximately 80% of the CO2 emissions and 700 grams of waste compared to buying a new pair of Levi’s.”

Levi’s partnered with recommerce technology and logistics start-up TROVE to handle the backend operations of Levi’s SecondHand, including cleaning, inventory processing, and fulfillment. 

“Getting more use out of existing products is the single biggest move we can make toward a more circular and sustainable supply chain,” said Andy Ruben, founder and CEO Trove, in a statement.

Levi’s and New Balance have teamed up to create a special edition Levi’s x New Balance 1300 sneaker. The limited edition kicks combine Levi’s back patch-colored suede and limited edition deadstock White Oak XX52 denim for a truly unique look that’s sure to be coveted by New Balance-favoring sneakerheads thirsty for the latest brand collaboration.

Additional details in the American-made sneakers include a Levi’s Orange Tab on the outside left foot, a White Oak woven label on the shoe tongue, and a special hangtag with a “Levi’s for feet” logo.

It’s the first New Balance collab since the brand teamed with longtime partner Todd Snyder to create a new spin on the classic 997 silhouette earlier this month. 

Levi’s and Nintendo have launched an eye-popping new capsule collection that pays tribute to Super Mario Brothers for the game’s 35th anniversary.

Denim, tees, hoodies and accessories feature famous characters like Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Bowser, and Princess Peach, as well as eye-catching color schemes and items derived the iconic Italian plumber’s universe.

For instance, there are gold coins peeking out of jean pockets, mushrooms and stars on back patches, jean tabs inscribed with retro font, and shank buttons in red, blue, green, and yellow.

Levi’s is making a limited edition Chewbacca trucker jacket for die-hard Star Wars stans who want to rock the likeness of everyone’s favorite Wookie. 

Arriving as a part of the already stacked Levi’s x Star Wars Collection under the denim brand’s Authorized Vintage line, the rugged, American-made garment was inspired by an archival still from the classic 1977 installment Episode IV – A New Hope. 

Each limited-edition example features Chewy-like hair and fibers on the back that were applied using a special embroidery technique and hand work. Unlike the black Chewbacca hoodie Maxim.com previously covered, the sleeves aren’t stitched with the phaser-slinging creature’s signature “GGWWWRRGGHH!!!!” growl. 

If the Dark Side is more your scene, the Levi’s x Star Wars Collection also includes a black denim jacket adorned with a large Darth Vader on the back. While many items from the Levi’s x Star Wars Collection are available right now online, a mere 60 Chewbacca trucker jackets will drop on December 20—the same day as the much-anticipated and premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Just in time for the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, denim brand Levi’s is teaming up with the sci-fi franchise for a new collection of printed hoodies, jackets, tees, jeans, and other intergalactic-inspired apparel.
