It’s right there in the lyrics of his inescapable hit single “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” after all: As Shaboozey sings, “they know me and Jack Daniel’s got a history.” The song has been positively everywhere since its release just last April, spending 19 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and leading to four Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist, for the singer (real name: Collins Obinna Chibueze).

In fitting fashion, its success led Shaboozey to team up with the iconic Tennesse whiskey maker as part of the Jack Daniel’s “Highway No. 7” cross-country music series. Ahead of a show sponsored by Old No. 7 at New York City’s Terminal 5 earlier this month, Shaboozey was grateful to see his dreams and hard work taking shape and paying off, saying Jack Daniel’s is “like my number one fan.”

(Shaboozey at New York City’s Terminal 5/Courtesy of Jack Daniel’s)

For the singer, it’s still all about being authentic as he kicks his “The Great American Roadshow” Tour into high gear. “I’m big on just putting parts of myself in the music,” he told Maxim as he prepared to head to New York City. “It’s just really cool that… with, the mention of Jack Daniel’s, so much support could come from it.”

(Photo by Daniel Prakopcyk/Courtesy of Shaboozey)

The ultra-stylish 30-year-old singer added that working with Jack Daniel’s feels like family, and feels like a more-than-natural fit. “That’s something I’ve kind of done my whole career is… putting some of my favorite things in life into my music,” he added.

(Shaboozey at New York City’s Terminal 5/Courtesy of Jack Daniel’s)

More than 1,000 guests got to see the singer-songwriter debut a new song, “Move On,” and the Grammy-nominated artist naturally brought plenty of Old No. 7 onstage. For a distillery with as much heritage (and modern innovation) as Jack Daniel’s, Shaboozey favors the classics when it comes to whiskey. “I like JD, you know what I mean? Some of my friends call me… the Jack Man,” he said with a laugh.

(Shaboozey at New York City’s Terminal 5/Courtesy of Jack Daniel’s)

Of a hectic past year, Shaboozey described it as “rewarding” and “exhilarating,” and notes that he’s eager for more, describing his mindset as “go, go, go, go” as he works to build off the success of his breakout third album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.

(Photo by Daniel Prakopcyk/Courtesy of Shaboozey)

Musically, the singer lists everyone from Gillian Welch to Johnny Cash as inspirations, along with the gritty outlaw country of Townes Van Zandt, and naturally, the singer is a fan of any music with a focus on “great storytelling,” he says. Those inspirations should give the artist plenty to go off as he plots his next album, and Shaboozey noted his band will bring a mobile recording rig to try out new songs on tour for the first time.

(Photo by Daniel Prakopcyk/Courtesy of Shaboozey)

His perspective goes well beyond whiskey and songwriting, though. The self-described “jeanhead” is also a big fan of Levi’s and even starred in a short film for the brand’s recent Global Icons campaign. “I wear a lot of jeans, a lot of Western shirts, and it’s always about style and how I can feel good up on stage,” he said.

(Photo by Daniel Prakopcyk/Courtesy of Shaboozey)

Shaboozey’s rise in the music scene has taken him to the likes of legendary rock clubs like Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club, and helped him dial in his setlist and stage design (Jack Daniel’s whiskey bottles, like any good rock show, are certainly par for the course).

“The set is really awesome. We spent a lot of time dialing it in and trying to make it as great as possible,” Shaboozey added, noting that “it takes a village to get here.” As Shaboozey brings his global smash hit (and plenty more fun) out on the road, check out his setlist here and be sure to bring your dancin’ boots (and an appetite for Jack Daniel’s whiskey).

Rihanna Celebrates 20th Anniversary Of Debut Album With Massive ‘R20’ Merch Drop https://www.maxim.com/entertainment/rihanna-celebrates-20th-anniversary-of-debut-album-with-massive-r20-merch-drop/ Wed, 03 Sep 2025 10:10:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=270448
(Monica Schipper/WireImage)

Rihanna is inviting fans to “Pon de Replay” as she celebrates the 20th anniversary of her debut album, 2005’s Music of the Sun, with a giant merch drop dubbed “R20.” In a heartfelt Instagram post, Rihanna reflected on a two-decade career that’s seen her win 9 Grammys, sell 250 million records, build a billion-dollar intimates brand, and become a mother to two children (a third is on the the way) with partner A$AP Rocky.

“20 years ago, i left my country, my culture, my food, and family to embark on a journey that started with the release of my very first body of music!” Rihanna wrote. “So many of you were a part of my life and career since the very beginning, and some of you have joined the adventure along the way. I’m forever grateful to all of you. Each of you played a very crucial role in where this journey has taken me thus far!”

“I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you!” she continued. “Thank you for the greatest first 20 years ever! 20 years of the most loyal, die-hard fans that don’t play about me whatsoever, 20 years of hard work and hardworking teams around me, 20 years of lessons, 20 years of unforgettable experiences and accomplishments, 20 years of my family being my number one support system, and to all the people who said yes to me and gave me a chance before it was “cool” to.”

As Billboard points out, Rihanna has cleverly incorporated a piece of organic fandom into the merch drop. A limited-edition “Rhenna Doll” stick figure featuring simple lines and Bantu knots has its roots in fan-drawn meme that Rihanna embraced back in 2014 by making it her profile picture on social media—it’s since become her digital avatar and alter ego. “Rhenna” also appears on the R20 Hoodie, while the R20 Layered Tee features a throwback black-and-white portrait captured by Dennis Leupold, the famed fashion photographer who has lensed enough pics of RiRi to fill a coffee table book.

The final and most substantial product in the drop is the R20 Vinyl Box Set, featuring Rhenna on the case and all eight of her studio albums: Music of the Sun, A Girl Like Me, Good Girl Gone Bad, Rated R, Loud, Talk That Talk, Unapologetic, and Anti. While the hoodie, tee and Rhenna doll are available to pre-order now, the vinyl box set isn’t yet available to reserve—interested parties are invited to sign up for a mailing list to receive an alert upon its arrival.

Meanwhile, there’s also a ninth album, referred to as R9 by fans, in the works—one that Rihanna is putting lots of care into getting just right. “After a while, I looked at it, and I was like, this much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in early 2025, referencing the nine-year gap between R9 and her most recent record, 2106’s Anti. “It has to count. It has to matter. I have to show them the worth in the wait.”

“I’ve been in the studio the whole eight years. But it didn’t hit me,” she added. “I was searching for it. I went through phases of what I wanted to do. ‘This kind of album, not that album.’ I know it’s not going to be anything that anybody expects. And it’s not going to be commercial or radio digestible. It’s going to be where my artistry deserves to be right now. I feel like I’ve finally cracked it, girl!”

Fans would surely agree: There’s be no better way to put a bow on Rihanna’s R20 celebrations than with the album’s long-awaited release.

Sabrina Carpenter Toasts ‘Man’s Best Friend’ With Johnnie Walker Partnership https://www.maxim.com/food-drink/sabrina-carpenter-toasts-mans-best-friend-with-johnnie-walker-partnership/ Fri, 29 Aug 2025 19:38:28 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=270293
(Johnnie Walker)

Goodbye “Espresso,” hello Scotch: Sabrina Carpenter is celebrating the release of her new album with help from Johnnie Walker. The two-time Grammy winner and the Scotch whisky label announced a multi-year partnership tied to the release of Carpenter’s seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend.

Billed as “the first verse of Johnnie Walker’s plans to collaborate with progressive voices in music,” the collab will bring Carpenter’s takes the Manhattan, whisky sour and whisky highball at select stops on the final leg of her Short n’ Sweet Tour, as well as more Johnnie Walker content inspired by Man’s Best Friend.

“Stepping into this next chapter of my music has been such a thrill,” Carpenter said. “It feels more confident and a lot more unapologetic. This partnership is about celebrating boldly, pushing boundaries, and moving forward with purpose.”

(Johnnie Walker)

“Johnnie Walker has evolved through generations to become the modern icon it is today, and Sabrina is on a similar path with Man’s Best Friend, stepping into a more confident, self-assured chapter while keeping her signature charm,” added JJ Stratford, who created the visuals for the campaign, as well as the “Don’t Worry I’ll Make You Worry” and “We Almost Broke Up Again Last Night” lyric videos. “In developing this campaign, we nodded to the golden age of spirits advertising, then layered in Sabrina’s bold yet timeless aesthetic, clever humor and a modern wink to make it unmistakably her own.”

(Johnnie Walker)

Carpenter’s tongue-in-cheek wit pervades Man’s Best Friend, particularly the latest single. Though the new track is titled “Tears,” the pop superstar is anything but sad as she describes in NSFW detail what she loves about a “responsible guy.”

The music video, which dropped simultaneously with the the album, opens with Carpenter crawling away from a car wreck towards a seemingly desolate house while donning a retro Robin egg blue skirt suit, white gloves and a matching sun hat. Naturally, the items are quickly shed to reveal the lingerie set the singer dons while navigating the spooky abode via disco moves and pole dancing.

“The album is not for any pearl clutchers,” Carpenter told CBS News, warning prudes against giving Man’s Best Friend a listen. “But I also think that even pearl clutchers can listen to an album like that in their own solitude and find something that makes them smirk and chuckle to themselves.”

“Sometimes people hear the lyrics that are really bold and they go, ‘I don’t want to sing this in front of other people,'” Carpenter added. “It’s almost… TMI. But I think about being at a concert, with however many young women I see in the front row that are screaming at the top of their lungs with their best friends and you can go like, we can all sigh of relief.”

Listen to Man’s Best Friend and see all of Carpenter’s upcoming North American tour dates below:

Mariah The Scientist Is The Face Of Young Thug’s New SP5DER Campaign https://www.maxim.com/entertainment/mariah-the-scientist-is-the-face-of-young-thugs-new-sp5der-campaign/ Wed, 20 Aug 2025 10:14:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=269217 Things are heating up in the kitchen in the latest campaign for Young Thug’s SP5DER lineup, as sultry singer Mariah The Scientist whips up a delectable take on streetwear style.

(SP5DER)

The “Burning Blue” singer and songwriter rocks a white patterned SP5DER hoodie and sporty red shorts in fun, mouthwatering fashion to celebrate the Atlanta rapper’s latest collection drop. Mariah appears to be whipping something up in the kitchen, if the cherries, frosting and whipped cream are any indication.

It appears the new offering might also feature kitchenware and home goods, although nothing appears online yet in that department via Young Thug’s King Spider site.

(SP5DER)

It’s not the first time Young Thug and Mariah The Scientist have linked up: Young Thug featured prominently on Mariah’s “Walked In” track and music video. To debut the latest capsule drop, Mariah also appears in a black tank top and branded black shorts (as seen below).

The new collection puts all eyes on Mariah, as its “SP5DER” logo also adorns the back waistband of a vivid pair of red shorts, while the angular silhouette of the hoodie looks approved for eye-catching style on and off stage.

(SP5DER)

It’s been a big week elsewhere for Young Thug, as Rolling Stone Australia (among other outlets) reports a small fleet of cars, jewelry and cash were returned to the hip-hop mogul after a ruling in his ongoing YSL trial. But the focus remains squarely on Mariah in his latest fashion collection drop.

(SP5DER)

Pieces like a branded cake knife and hand towel also show up in the campaign’s visual offering, but they’re far from the main attraction.

Mariah The Scientist has plenty cooking at the moment as well, with her new album “Hearts Sold Separately” dropping on August 22nd. Those interested in joining Mariah’s cadre of “toy soldiers” can sign up for tour and album alerts by texting (404)531-7744. Streetwear fans should also keep an eye out online at SP5DER for the latest Young Thug-approved collection.

Eddie Van Halen’s Famed ‘Frankenstein’ Guitar Is Up For Grabs https://www.maxim.com/entertainment/eddie-van-halens-famed-frankenstein-guitar-is-up-for-grabs/ Thu, 14 Aug 2025 09:15:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=268655
(Sotheby’s)

One of the 1980s MTV era’s most famous rock artifacts can soon be yours. Eddie Van Halen’s 1982 Kramer “Frankenstein” electric guitar is hitting Sotheby’s Grails Week auctions this October.

(Sotheby’s)

The instantly recognizable red guitar with black and white stripes was based on Van Halen’s original “Frankenstein,” or “Frankenstrat,” design, which combined several components from different guitars with a Fender Stratocaster body in an effort to create the sound of a Gibson and the feel of a Fender. The master musician used several iterations of Frankensteins, and after visiting the Kramer factory in Neptune, New Jersey to personally modify the instrument, he played this iteration on tour in 1982 and 1983 at concerts in the U.S. and South America.

(Sotheby’s)

But its rich history continued to unfold even after Van Halen autographed and gifted the six-string to his guitar tech, Rudy Leiren, with the inscription “Thanx Rude – Its Been a Great Ten Years – Lets Do Another Ten.” Leiren ended up selling it to Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars, who played it extensively while recording the band’s landmark album Dr. Feelgood.

(Sotheby’s)

“Played during some of Eddie’s most iconic performances and later used by Mötley Crüe’s Mick Mars, this instrument connects two giants of heavy metal,” explained Ian Ferreyra de Bone, Sotheby’s managing director of its luxury division, per The Hollywood Reporter. “With its custom build and incredible backstory, it’s a true grail — exactly the kind of piece we had in mind for Sotheby’s first-ever Grails Week, which shines a spotlight on the most sought-after treasures from music, film, TV and comics and puts Sotheby’s right at the center of pop culture.”

(Sotheby’s)

Notably, Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang, recently played another Frankensteins while recording a track for his band Mammoth (formerly known as Mammoth SVH).

“Tracking the slap part of [‘The End’]”—a horror-themed song that was released in 2025. “Fun fact, I recorded the main tapping of the song, and the slap part with the Frankenstein! Makes me feel closer to Pop that such an important part of his history can live with mine every time I record,” he wrote.

Eddie Van Halen’s 1982 Kramer Electric “Frankenstrein” guitar is expected to fetch between $2 and $3 million at auction on October 24 in New York City—tap here for more.

Why Iggy Azalea Pivoted From Rapper To Crypto Investor https://www.maxim.com/entertainment/why-iggy-azalea-pivoted-from-rapper-to-cryptocurrency-investor/ Wed, 13 Aug 2025 09:29:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=268477
(Ethan Miller/Getty Images)

It turns out that Iggy Azalea’s final musical effort, 2023’s “Money Come,” was something of a harbinger. The Australian rapper had experienced what she described as “life-changing” financial success after launching and OnlyFans account in January 2023, where she’d develop and publish “Hotter Than Hell,” a year-long multimedia concept packed with collabs with visual artists and a coffee table book. By fall 2024, Azalea had retired from the music business and was reported to be in the subscription platform’s top 10 creators as estimates surfaced that she’d made as much as $48 million in revenue.

“Yeah, of course there are parts of music that I miss. Sometimes I’ll have the itch be like, I need to get in the studio,” she told ABC’s Nightline. “I don’t want to be a slave to that cycle of promotion, concert, music, industry, politics, having to share more of myself than what I’m comfortable with. It’s one thing to sacrifice those things when it’s just you, but I would also be signing my son up to sacrifice those things.”

The birth of Onyx Carter, whom Azalea shares with rapper Playboy Carti, didn’t just impact her decision to leave the music industry—her son ties directly in to her latest act as a self-described “crypto entrepreneur.” Following a controversy where a scammer launched a crypto token using her name ($IGGY), Azalea launched her own token on the Solana blockchain called Mother Iggy, or $MOTHER. Inspired by her newfound motherhood, she actively worked to distance herself from the “pump and dump” nature of many celebrity cryptocurrencies. To that end, she co-founded Unreal Mobile, where customers can use $MOTHER to purchase phones and monthly cell phone plans, and even launched an online crypto casino called Motherland, which is powered by her $MOTHER token. The casino offers various gambling activities and is part of her larger strategy to build a cohesive community and provide utility for the coin.

“It seemed to me that, especially with meme tokens, they were central to virality, and that really interests me, obviously,” Azalea told ABC’s Nightline. When it comes to virality, she added, “I think I have been pretty successful at it.”

While meme coins are more speculative in nature than better established tokens like Ether or Bitcoin, Azalea seems to be riding the cryptocurrency wave that seems to only trend upward on a long enough timeline. And the inherent chaos indelibly linked to the burgeoning cryptocurrency space doesn’t seem to bother Azalea.

“I think a big part of the last ten years of my life, honestly, have been about getting that control back for me: to be able to navigate my own ship in those ways,” Azalea added. “It feels really good to be able to do it. I’m living the dream. I think I just I like to make a little bit of chaos. I always will.”

Beyoncé & Levi’s Launch ‘The Denim Cowboy’ Collection https://www.maxim.com/style/beyonce-levis-launch-the-denim-cowboy-collection/ Wed, 06 Aug 2025 09:29:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=267825
(Levi’s)

Three Beyoncé-led Levi’s commercials—and one Post Malone-featuring duet—have culminated in the launch of a new Queen Bey-approved collection of bedazzled denim. To mark the occasion, the brand had the “Texas Hold ‘Em” superstar saddle up one more time to bring its “Reiimagine” campaign to a close.

In the 90-second Denim Cowboy featurette, which combines new scenes and extended cuts from the previously released Launderette, Pool Hall and Refrigerator shorts inspired by classic Levi’s ads, the genre-bending Cowboy Carter musician rides in on a horse and out on a motorcycle as her “Levii’s Jeans” hit provides a soundtrack for her small-town errand day.

(Levi’s)

Hero pieces from the new Beyoncé x Levi’s collection of laced, rhinestone-studded and embroidered denim appear throughout, including 501 jeans that she wins in a pool game against Justified and Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant, the ’90s Shrunken Trucker paired with 501 Curve jeans, and an all-new 501 silhouette.

(Levi’s)

Three finishes will be available across seven pieces, all of which feature collection-exclusive leather patches and the brand’s double arcuate stitch on the back pockets. “Western Crystal” brings crystal embellishments to the ’90s Shrunken Trucker, 501 Curve and 501 ’90s, while the Laced Up finish adds lacing details to the ’90s Shrunken Trucker and 501 Curve. The Authentic Finish takes a raw-denim approach for a more subtle aesthetic on the ’90s Shrunken Trucker and 501 Curve.

(Levi’s)

Beyoncé isn’t the only superstar with her own high-profile denim collection. American Eagle’s “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans” campaign has generated countless headlines and a bizarre backlash, even prompting President Trump to defend the campaign by calling AE’s commercial the “hottest ad out there.” According to CNBC, American Eagle’s share prices have surged a whopping 23 percent in the wake of the viral controversy.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour is the highest grossing in the history of country music, generating more than $350 million in ticket sales across 75 concerts worldwide. The Beyoncé x Levi’s denim collection is available exclusively on shop.beyonce.com until the official August 7 launch on Levi.com and in Levi’s stores.

Get Thunderstruck With This AC/DC Lightning Bolt Turntable https://www.maxim.com/gear/pro-ject-audio-gets-thunderstruck-with-ac-dc-lightning-bolt-turntable/ Thu, 31 Jul 2025 09:47:00 +0000 https://www.maxim.com/?p=267376
(Pro-Ject Audio)

A stunning new turntable from Pro-Ject Audio celebrates legendary rock band AC/DC with a striking lightning bolt design. The innovative audio masters, known for vibrant home audio systems packed with crystal-clear sound technology, pay homage to the Aussie “Thunderstruck” rockers just days after the 45th anniversary of one of the best-selling albums of all time, 1980’s classic Back in Black. AC/DC’s lightning bolt logo delivered a jolt of inspiration to its designers, Pro-Ject Audio said, adding that the group’s “iconic font & lightning bolt gave us the idea for this very special turntable design.”

An acrylic sub platter and heavy glass platter make up the bolt-shaped record player, assuredly unlike anything in your rotation. The luxe record player, outfitted with a pre-adjusted Ortofon 2M Red MM cartridge. is nothing short of perfect to brush up on the band’s discography as the Angus Young-led outfit tours Europe this summer.

(Pro-Ject Audio)

The platter itself is more than just enticing to look at: It offers a view of the record player’s many precise parts, all the while delivering the “tightest and most accurate playback speeds,” which might just mean that hard-charging classics like “Shot Down In Flames” or “Highway to Hell” have never sounded better.

(Pro-Ject Audio)

What the company calls a “unique” 8.6-inch spring acrylic tonearm helps set the pace for the $1,699 limited-edition record player, which is available now for pre-order and ships this coming October. The audio company notes the chart-topping rock band’s “electrifying sound and high-energy performances” made them legendary (whether with OG frontman Bon Scott or current lead singer Brian Johnson, a debate for another day).

In addition to its streamlined, utterly badass look, the sleek turntable’s heavy platter offers zero resonance upon playback, all the better to get the most out of legendary tracks like “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You).” The heavy platter design sidesteps the “flaws of plastic or lightweight construction,” the audio brand notes. To turn that covetable sound quality into a real part of your record collection and listening set-up, visit Pro-Ject Audio now for more information on how to pre-order this soon-to-be-rare turntable.

Christina Aguilera certainly is beautiful, no matter what they say. Donning her signature blonde locks that popped with contrast against a full set of black lingerie, the “Lady Marmalade” songstress and former Maxim cover star posed in a series of photos for social media, merely captioning the carousel, “top shelf.

As the photos made the rounds, one fan noted the striking similarity between the image in which Aguilera stretches across a mirror and another featuring a similar pose that was captured over a decade ago for her 2013 Maxim cover shoot, rightfully pointing out that the now 44-year-old powerhouse pop vocalist “only gets better with age.”

Aguilera hasn’t just been busy dropping heat on IG. She’s currently fulfilling producing duties for Burlesque: The Musical, a stage adaptation of her lukewarmly received 2010 film that seems to be a love-it-or-hate it theatrical experience. Critics have both praised the show, which is running at London’s Savoy Theatre through September 6, as a five-star “breath of fresh air” (in the Guardian) and derided it as a one-star “theatrical rehash of the lamentable 2010 film” (in the Daily Mail). In September 2024, she also released live concert EP celebrating the 25th anniversary of her eponymous debut 1999 album, which featured appearances from Machine Gun Kelly and Sabrina Carpenter.
